We are seeking a Patient Sitter , also referred to as a Patient Observer in our Nursing Administration department. The Patient Sitter in our hospital provides continuous one-on-one observation and support to patients who require close monitoring to ensure their safety. Sitters do not perform clinical procedures but play a vital role in patient safety and support, especially for patients with cognitive impairment, delirium, or high fall risk. This position is on a per diem basis, meaning PD/PRN as needed.

Responsibilities

Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, the patient Sitter maintains constant visual observation of assigned patient. Assists in the provision of a safe and clean environment. Communicates observations of the patient's activity and behavior on a regular basis to the assigned nurse. Communicates in a professional manner and demonstrates respect for patient, families/significant other and other health care members. Offers support to peers and staff.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING


1. High School Diploma or equivalent.
2. Knowledge of Microsoft Office and basic computer skills.
3. Ability to communicate in English orally and in writing.
4. BLS (AHA) certification required at time of hire and remain current.
