Position Product Development Engineer – High Speed IO Connector Responsibilities Conceptualize, design, and develop cable assemblies and/or IO connector systems from initial proposal to successful tooling and product qualifications. Perform Design FMEA, tolerance analysis, design for manufacturability, FEA analysis, and risk analysis. Work with Marketing and the customer to define customer needs and functional performance requirements and assess technical risk. Collaborate with internal and external manufacturing disciplines (Stamping, Plating, Molding, Assembly) to optimize design for production processes. Lead product design reviews and verify accuracy of product drawings, ensuring proper use of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing. Work with Materials Engineering to define metal and polymer material choices based on performance, pricing, and global sourcing. Present product concepts to customers early in the development cycle, interpret feedback, and incorporate revised requirements into the design. Define product, application, and packaging specifications, as well as verification and product qualification test plans. Manage the resolution of first‑article inspections and work closely with NPI and manufacturing engineering to ensure product transition to manufacturing. Interact with global associates during development and provide mentorship where appropriate. Travel domestically and internationally up to 25%. Qualifications 1–3 years of experience in high‑speed cable assembly and/or connector design preferred. Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related field. Knowledge of signal‑integrity design preferred. Familiarity with industry standards a plus. Proficiency in SolidWorks, FEA simulation software (ANSYS preferred), Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing principles, and statistical engineering methods. Strong teamwork skills and ability to direct the activity of others when needed. Excellent communication skills with global customers and internal stakeholders including management, marketing, sales, process engineering, test labs, and designers. Ability to prioritize work to meet objectives and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
