Growing together.Position in this function is responsible for working with the surgical team to insure that quality care is given to the patient. Works with team members in providing assistance to the Surgeon by being familiar with the surgical procedure, instruments, supplies and equipment.Primary Responsibilities:Consistently exhibits behavior and communication skills that demonstrate Optum's commitment to superior customer service, including quality, care and concern with each and every internal and external customerAssumes the responsibility of a Scrub NurseFunctions as the Sterile Assistant to the SurgeonAssists in the assessment, planning and implementation of care given to the surgical patientDemonstrates ability to use supplies, equipment and instruments appropriatelyFollows strict principles of aseptic technique both in procedures and in processing of equipment and instrumentationDemonstrates competence in assisting with surgical proceduresDemonstrates knowledge of health and safety policies and procedures, regulatory agency requirements, quality improvement process, facility and departmental policies, procedures and protocolsDemonstrates knowledge of Universal Body PrecautionsParticipates in the identification and implementation of improvements in the delivery of quality careResponds expediently and courteously to requests for help from patients and staffUses judgment in seeking consultation from circulating Nurse and other unit Nursing staffMaintains composure and initiates emergency care as appropriate according to ACLS guidelinesWorks with team members in the selection of supplies, instrumentation and equipment needed for patient careWorks with team members in the processing of sterile supplies, instruments and equipment and their replacement to proper areasAssists Anesthesia staff as requestedUses, protects, and discloses Optum patients' protected health information (PHI) only in accordance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) standardsPerforms additional duties as assignedYou'll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in.Required Qualifications:Graduate of an accredited school of Surgical TechnologistsCurrent WA State Surgical Technologist Registration (ST)Current AHA- BLS CertificationPreferred Qualifications:Current ORT (Operating Room Technician) certification2+ years of experience as a surgical technologist in an acute care setting or a busy multi-specialty ASCPay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The hourly pay for this role will range from $27.00 to $37.00 per hour based on full-time employment.
