The Supervisor, Quality Control (QC) is responsible and accountable for the oversight of
sampling, inspection, testing, and examination of components, in-process materials, finished product and quality related issues in production areas. The Supervisor, QC is responsible for ensuring that inspection, measuring, and test equipment is fit for the intended purpose, calibrated, and maintained. The Supervisor, QC is responsible for ensuring that all
applicable procedures are followed and ensure compliance to cGMPs. RESPONSIBILITIES
• Knowledgeable of the applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs), and maintains knowledge base on an ongoing, timely basis as procedural changes occur without relying on management intervention or direction.
• Demonstrates knowledge of and teaches department procedures and company polices.
• Pays attention to detail in all aspects and ensures paperwork is complete, accurate and neat.
• Develops, trains, and supervises QC Inspection personnel and ensures that personnel are trained in applicable procedures, including cGMPs, safety procedures and chemical hazards. Ensures training is reasonably continuous, timely and conducted before employees begin new tasks.
• Ensures that performance appraisals for direct reports and department personnel are conducted in a thorough and timely manner.
• Conducts periodic check-ins with all staff to provide performance and behavior feedback.
• Leads continuous improvement of processes and practices through inter- and intra-departmental collaboration.
• Ensures there is awareness of cross contamination issues and prevention techniques while sampling and inspecting materials and exhibits vigilance in taking proper precautions to maintain a clean environment.
• Ensures that QC checks are consistent and timely in the production facility and ensures thorough and rapid inspection of received materials as per established procedures and department goals.
• Adheres to company safety requirements.
• Demonstrates initiative and job knowledge by suggesting ideas, discovering new and better ways of accomplishing goals and finds innovative, well thought-out solutions to problems.
• Takes initiative and makes sound decisions within the guidelines provided, and is willing, if necessary, to stop a procedure or process when SOP or product quality is in question.
• Ensures that inspection, measuring, and test equipment is fit for the intended purpose, calibrated and maintained as per established procedures.
• Demonstrates a working knowledge of the overall functions of production and the flow process from receiving raw materials to the finished product.
• Supports Quality Control inspection activities on the Production floor.
• Performs investigations and root cause analysis. Develops corrective and preventative actions to resolve and prevent issues.
• Understands and ensures specifications are being met.
• Understands and ensures that sampling plans are used correctly for sampling and inspecting of received materials, in process product, and finished product.
• Understands and can categorize defects as per established procedures. Able to determine differences between categories of defects and makes a sound and reasonable judgment call as to the acceptability of the material.
• Ensures nonconforming material, deviation, and reprocessing processes are followed as per established procedures.
• Ensures compliance with cGMP, FDA, OSHA, and all other regulatory requirements, in accordance with company policy.
• Builds and leads a highly performing team, secure the best talent, develop, and strengthen staff and future leaders, and provide ongoing coaching and feedback.
• Conducts formal and informal performance assessments of staff, including performance versus expectations and goals, behaviors, and leadership potential, and seek the same for self. WHAT YOU NEED
• Education and Experience: By training, education, and/or experience, must be able to perform the essential duties of their job. Supervisory experience preferred. High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required. 1-2 years' experience in a Quality role is preferred. Previous experience in Pharmaceutical, Biotechnology, or Food manufacturing preferred.
• Ability to effect change in a positive environment. Must be able to provide constructive arguments and sound justification as it pertains to technical and compliance requirements when QC decisions are required.
• Initiates, performs, and completes reports in a timely manner.
• Schedules projects and meets tight deadlines.
• Supervises and manages others, delegates appropriately, and follows-up on work assignments.
• Develops and delivers on assigned objectives within requested timeframes.
• Works cooperatively with managers in other departments.
• Possesses good interpersonal skills and engages others in a positive manner.
• Possesses strong attention to detail.
• Possesses strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Raises issues and concerns promptly.
• Documents and presents work in a clear and concise manner.
