CREATIVE DIRECTOR

Creative Director Job Department Creative Team Seeking an artistic and highly organized person with an affinity for Asian American arts and culture. You’ll lead the creative team which includes an Art Director, Photo Director, photo editor and designers, and work closely with the editorial staff to develop and maintain the artistic design of Hyphen's new online iteration. You’ll also be a member of the Hyphen leadership team, a collaborative leadership structure comprised of team leads and longtime staffers. Requirements Strong visual sense Highly organized and detail‑oriented with excellent verbal & written communication skills Enthusiasm for Hyphen subject matter, Hyphen as a magazine and Hyphen as a part of the Asian American landscape Ability to communicate ideas visually and work creatively within limited budgets Ability to work as part of a larger team including supervising: editors, director of photography, art director, and designers at all stages of content development Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and meet both short- and long‑term deadlines Responsiveness and availability with communication Attend once a month biz/edit meetings (1.5 hours) Attend once a month leadership team meetings (1.5 hours) General Duties And Responsibilities Trains and supervises assigned staff of artists, production and personnel; oversees their execution of all creative efforts to ensure team is on strategy, budget and schedule Oversees all creative elements of online publication, including: managing multiple deadlines assigning stories to editorial designers for layout overseeing workflow working with Art Director and Director of Photography to assign artwork to illustrators and photographers for layout Coordinates marketing communications design Oversees and manages overall brand identity of the organization at large Maintains design integrity of the publication Envisions and develops new ways to engage readership Supervises / oversees creative design team, including: scheduling and facilitating creative team meetings scheduling and facilitating team building get togethers and activities Liaise between creative / edit and creative / biz Assists in front‑end development of website Mentors junior designers Knowledge And Skills Adobe suite with a strong focus on InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop Google docs and online file management Dropbox Nimble with learning new programs Hyphen uses at larger to project manage stories + projects, such as Drupal, Trello & Slack How To Apply Resume, cover letter, and portfolio of 10‑20 layouts/spreads to: View email address on click.appcast.io Description of any past leadership experience involving supervising other team members Email this page #J-18808-Ljbffr
