Middle School Assistant Principal

Recruiting for the 2026–2027 school year. Position to begin as soon as possible. Job Goals: Assist the middle school principal with the administration and supervision of the middle school program Performance Responsibilities: Assists with the administration and operation of the middle school in support of the school’s mission, goals, and student success. Supervises and evaluates assigned faculty and staff in accordance with the District’s APPR plan and established evaluation procedures. Serves as department administrator for the following departments: special education, teaching assistants, art/music/tech/facs Maintains oversight of special education programs, including 12:1:4 classrooms and collaboration with related service providers. Supervises, supports, and evaluates teaching assistants and paraprofessionals, including hiring, scheduling, professional development, and payroll oversight. Coordinates and oversees the administration of state and local assessments, including New York State 3-8 assessments and Regents examinations. Analyzes student achievement, attendance, behavior, and program data to inform decision-making and school improvement initiatives. Assists with the planning, and supervision of extracurricular activities, student events, field trips, concerts, and performances. Participates in and supports building and district committees, including the School-Based Opportunity Team (SBOT), Building Safety Team, Brighton Support Team (BST), and other committees as assigned. Attends and participates in grade-level, problem-solving, and interdisciplinary team meetings. Assists with preparation of school budgets, reports, handbooks, and other administrative documents as assigned. Helps maintain a safe, supportive, and inclusive school environment that promotes student growth and aligns with district values. Completes necessary reports and administrative duties as requested by the principal. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the principal. Terms of Employment: 12 months per year. Salary and working conditions as defined in the negotiated agreement between the District and the Association of Brighton Administrators. Professional Organizations and Affiliations Qualifications: Successful teaching experience Appropriate New York State Administrative Certification (School Building Leader) Knowledge of middle school organizations and programs Skills in communications (written and verbal), planning, problem solving, decision making and working with people Knowledge of special education programming Knowledge of special education regulations Knowledge of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support Ability to work with staff and parents with diverse opinions Familiar with the requirements of Education Law 3012-c, commonly referred to as APPR, and certification as an evaluator using the NYSUT rubric. #J-18808-Ljbffr
