Part-Time Property Accountant / Full-Charge Bookkeeper – QuickBooks Desktop

Pay: $27–$30 per hour
Hours: Approximately 16–20 hours per week
Schedule: Flexible part-time schedule
Work Arrangement: Onsite

Abel Personnel is recruiting a Part-Time Property Accountant / Full-Charge Bookkeeper to support the accounting needs of three related businesses and a diverse real-estate portfolio of approximately 40 properties, including a 98-unit apartment complex.

This is an excellent opportunity for an organized, self-directed accounting professional who enjoys taking ownership of the books. You will manage full-cycle bookkeeping responsibilities, maintain accurate records across multiple entities and bank accounts, and provide dependable financial information to business ownership.

What You’ll Do

• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable
• Reconcile approximately 25 bank accounts
• Process and enter payroll information
• Process 401(k) distributions approximately twice per month
• Maintain accurate general ledger accounts
• Complete month-end closing activities
• Prepare financial reports for ownership
• Record and classify financial activity in QuickBooks Desktop
• Maintain accounting records for three businesses and approximately 40 properties
• Support the accounting needs of a 98-unit apartment complex
• Post tenant receivables to the appropriate property and tenant accounts
• Review transactions and account balances for accuracy
• Research and resolve accounting discrepancies
• Maintain organized financial documentation and supporting records
• Assist with additional bookkeeping and property-accounting responsibilities as needed

The property manager currently collects rent and manages security deposits. The bookkeeper will ensure that the corresponding tenant receivables are accurately posted to the appropriate accounts in QuickBooks.

What We’re Looking For

• Previous bookkeeping, full-charge bookkeeping, or accounting experience
• Strong proficiency with QuickBooks Desktop
• Hands-on experience with accounts payable and accounts receivable
• Experience completing bank reconciliations and maintaining a general ledger
• Payroll processing or payroll-entry experience
• Experience supporting month-end close and preparing financial reports
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial recordkeeping
• Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and organization
• Ability to prioritize responsibilities and meet deadlines
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Sound judgment when handling confidential financial information

Preferred Experience

• Property-management, real-estate, or rental-property accounting
• Accounting for multiple businesses, entities, or properties
• Managing a high volume of bank accounts
• Maintaining tenant ledgers or posting tenant receivables
• Supporting apartment-complex or residential-property accounting
