Material Support Manager

Job DescriptionJohnson Service Group (JSG) is actively seeking Material Support Manager with 5 plus years of experience in (Miami) Opa- Locka, FL. Job Description: The Materials Manager will lead the purchasing, materials, inventory, and warehouse functions supporting aircraft maintenance. The role requires a hands-on operational leader who can manage immediate aircraft priorities, resolve supplier and inventory issues, develop employees, and communicate clearly with facility leadership and internal customers. Team size: Approximately 7-10 purchasing agents, 2-3 interns, 1 warehouse supervisor, and approximately 12-15 material handlers Primary Responsibilities

• Lead purchasing agents, buyers, interns, warehouse employees, and the warehouse supervisor.
• Understand the material requirements for aircraft currently on the hangar floor.
• Monitor incoming aircraft parts and components and address late or at-risk demands.
• Oversee repair-station inventory processes, including cycle counts, work-in-progress inventory, and audits.
• Ensure proper packaging, transportation, receiving, shipping, and stockroom controls.
• Resolve supplier, inventory, shipment, discrepancy, and warehouse issues.
• Assign daily priorities based on aircraft schedules and customer commitments.
• Monitor operational metrics, past-due purchase orders, supplier payments, and improvement projects.
• Provide clear material-status updates to Operations Managers, the General Manager, and other stakeholders.
• Prepare turnover priorities and information for second shift.
• Manage hiring, performance reviews, employee development, PIPs, and corrective actions.
• Maintain team engagement and ensure employees have the support needed to perform successfully.

Required Experience

• A minimum of five years of leadership experience at the manager level.
• Lead or supervisor experience alone does not meet the preferred leadership standard.
• Strong aviation MRO experience and working knowledge of an FAA Part 145 repair-station environment.
• Experience across purchasing, materials, aircraft parts, inventory, and warehouse operations.
• Experience implementing process improvements and evaluating whether the changes were sustained.
• Experience managing hiring, performance, development, employee relations, and corrective actions.
• Degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.

Preferred and Transferable Backgrounds

• Aviation MRO and repair-station experience is the primary target.
• Military aviation supply, logistics, maintenance-support, or materials leadership is valuable.
• Commercial aviation maintenance experience may transfer when the candidate has direct materials leadership responsibility.
• Aerospace parts and component-repair experience may transfer when it includes time-sensitive operational support.
• Healthcare or global procurement experience alone is not considered sufficiently comparable to operating model of aviation MRO.
