Our client in Cincinnati, OH, has an immediate opening for an Assistant Store Manager on a direct hire basis.

Assistant Store Manager:
Lead a high-energy retail team and help create an exceptional customer experience as an Assistant Store Manager. This hands-on leadership role is ideal for an experienced retail, grocery, food service, or merchandising professional who enjoys working on the sales floor, developing employees, solving operational challenges, and driving store performance.
As an Assistant Store Manager, you will partner with department leaders and team members to maintain high standards for product quality, food safety, customer service, employee engagement, and store operations. You will have the opportunity to make an immediate impact by coaching teams, improving processes, supporting hiring and training, and helping deliver a welcoming, well-run shopping environment every day.
Lead by example on the sales floor while supporting employees, department managers, and customers in a fast-paced retail environment
Create a positive, professional, and customer-focused store culture
Engage with customers, answer questions, resolve concerns, and ensure a memorable shopping experience
Monitor product quality, freshness, rotation, sanitation, and food-safety standards
Help ensure a safe environment for customers, employees, equipment, and company property
Enforce store policies, procedures, and operational expectations consistently
Delegate daily responsibilities and follow up to ensure tasks are completed accurately and on time
Assist with employee scheduling, time and attendance monitoring, and staffing coverage needs
Recruit, interview, hire, onboard, train, coach, and develop team members
Address performance concerns and support corrective action when needed, including disciplinary documentation
Partner with department leaders to monitor performance, identify opportunities, and improve results
Train employees on the safe and proper use of store equipment
Support merchandising, selling initiatives, inventory awareness, and overall store presentation
Take on additional responsibilities as business needs evolve

Assistant Store Manager Background Profile:
Prior leadership experience in retail, grocery, food service, hospitality, or a similar customer-facing environment
Strong knowledge of perishable products, product rotation, food safety, and quality standards
Proven ability to coach, train, motivate, and hold employees accountable
Excellent customer service, communication, and conflict-resolution skills
Strong organization, prioritization, and problem-solving abilities
Confidence in making decisions in a busy, fast-moving environment
Basic computer, math, scheduling, and data-entry skills
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
Ability to travel between local store locations as needed
Must be at least 21 years old
Retail grocery or specialty food experience preferred
Strong merchandising and product-presentation skills preferred
Sales-focused mindset with the ability to identify opportunities to improve customer engagement and store performance preferred
Experience managing teams, scheduling employees, or supporting multi-department operations preferred
