Description

Under the direction of the Program Director and in collaboration with the Director of Clinical Education (DCE), the Director of Clinical Development (DCD) provides leadership and operational oversight for all administrative aspects of the clinical education program within the Physician Assistant Studies Program. The DCD serves as the primary administrative liaison between the University, affiliated clinical sites and preceptors, healthcare organizations, program faculty, and students to ensure successful coordination, compliance, and continuous advancement of the clinical education experience. The DCD is responsible for management of clinical rotation operations, compliance processes, clinical education software systems, site recruitment and retention activities, and coordination of clinical partnerships and affiliation agreements. This position plays a critical role in supporting accreditation standards, maintaining high-quality clinical placements, and strengthening long-term institutional relationships with affiliated healthcare organizations.

Qualifications

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Conduct direct clinical site outreach with the goal of recruitment, procurement, and retention of dependable longstanding clinical training sites with defined student placement opportunities. 2. Develop, maintain, and strengthen relationships with clinical preceptors (i.e., clinical instructional faculty), healthcare organizations, and affiliated clinical sites. 3. Facilitate and support student rotation applications and onboarding processes with large healthcare systems and organizations. 4. Maintain oversight and direction of regular communication with affiliated organizations regarding rotation placement timelines, onboarding requirements, and placement processes. 5. Coordinate, update, and oversee contracting processes related to affiliation agreements, including the facilitation of internal/external routing, review and signature processes, to ensure timely completion and compliance with University policies. 6. Initiate and oversee vendor agreements related to the clinical education program, in collaboration with the Program Manager, to ensure agreements progress appropriately through University processes. 7. Capture, maintain, and reconcile accurate budgets, in collaboration with the Program Manager, related to vendor compensation and clinical site payments. 8. Coordinate preceptor recognition initiatives including CME awards, appreciation events, receptions, gifts and other acknowledgment activities. 9. In collaboration with the Program Manager, oversee the development and implementation of MSPAS Program Newsletter on a regular basis. 10. Serve as a resource for preceptors and clinical partners regarding program accreditation requirements related to student presence in the clinical environment. 11. Oversee and manage the continuous implementation, maintenance, and integrity of data within clinical education software systems, including Exxat Prism and Exxat Approve. 12. Oversee and manage staff implementation of accurate and up-to-date electronic and paper clinical site files and backup systems as necessary. Generate reports and provide operational data to program leadership as requested. 13. In partnership with the DCE and clinical faculty, assist in scheduling, coordinating and managing administrative aspects of clinical rotations for Physician Assistant students. 14. Support continuous quality improvement efforts within clinical education operations. 15. Participate in regular clinical team meetings and confirm accurate minutes have been compiled and filed by clinical and/or program staff for accreditation purposes. 16. Participate in MSPAS department and University committees and initiatives as assigned. 17. Represent the MSPAS program and the University at external professional meetings, conferences, networking events, and recruitment activities as appropriate. 18. Participate in pre-matriculation and didactic year pre-clinical student preparation events as requested by the Director of Clinical Education. 19. As a member of the MSPAS Program administrative staff, shares responsibility to coordinate and facilitate various MSPAS program events including Interview and Decision Days, new student orientation, White Coat Ceremony, and graduation. 20. As a member of the MSPAS Program, maintains an awareness and current understanding of ARC-PA accreditation standards related to clinical activities. 21. Assists the program with required self-study documentation as requested by the Director of Clinical Education and/or Program Director. 22. Additional responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Clinical Education and/or Program Director within their designated role.

Job Qualifications

Required /Preferred Qualifications: The requirements below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform this job successfully. Bachelor's Degree required / Master's Degree highly preferred. Emphasis in areas of healthcare administration, education, business development and management, public health, or related disciplines. Minimum of three to five years of experience in administration. Experience in relation to complex healthcare systems, and/or working within medical or health-related professions or clinical education coordination is preferred. Experience managing vendor and/or legal agreements, community partnerships, or compliance systems preferred. Strong interpersonal, organizational, and professional communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively with students, faculty, administrators, preceptors, and healthcare organizations. Strong project management and problem-solving abilities. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and professionalism. Maintain flexibility in times of uncertainty related to student rotation scheduling and student educational requirements. Ability to respond promptly on occasional evenings and weekends as necessary. Experience with data management systems, such as clinical scheduling software Exxat Prism and Exxat Approve, preferred. Proficiency with Google Workspace, Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe, and related administrative software platforms. Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while functioning independently as per job requirements. Strong attention to detail, organization, confidentiality, and follow-through. Handles confidential information with discretion. Demonstrated history of resourcefulness, creative problem-solving, and proactivity. Must have a valid, non-limited California state driver's license.
