Medical Physicist (Yakima, WA)

Medical Physicist to join a busy, well‑resourced cancer center in Yakima, WA. The department includes Varian TrueBeam accelerators, Eclipse planning system, ARIA v18, BrachyVision, Radformation, MIM, Bravos HDR, and a Phillips CT simulator. This role supports SBRT, SRS, and HDR brachytherapy services. Duties/Responsibilities Calibration of dose meters, including dosimetric inter‑comparisons for QA, and radiation equipment (accelerator monitor unit calibration); beam data acquisition for treatment planning. Preparation of data for treatment planning systems; development and improvement of dose measurement systems, protocols, and software (including spreadsheets and databases). Ensuring compliance with federal, state, and organizational regulations for radiation safety. Participation in the development of organizational performance‑improvement activities, policies, procedures, and standards of practice to meet regulatory requirements. Assistance in acceptance testing and commissioning of new machines, and re‑commissioning after major maintenance. Performing individual treatment planning, dosimetry calculations, and treatment planning reviews (physics component). Providing physics consultation to all radiation oncology personnel and radiation oncologists concerning patient care and treatment aspects. Ensuring routine verification of the department treatment planning system. Collaborating with the information services department to manage department planning system software. Assisting in planning and shielding calculations for new radiation facilities and programs. Interpreting and preparing documentation summaries of regulatory changes for integration into departmental operations. Providing dosimetry checks following source changes. Assisting with the selection and acquisition of sources for permanent implant techniques. In collaboration with department director and physics director, participating in clinical education, training, and competency evaluations for medical physics, dosimetry, and therapy staff. Qualifications Willingness to relocate to Yakima, WA or surrounding area. Bachelor’s, M.S., or Ph.D. (preferred) in Medical Physics or a closely related field, required. Clinical experience with a CAMPEP‑accredited residency. Candidates who have passed the Part‑I and (possibly) Part‑II ABR Exams preferred. Experience with High Dose Rate (HDR) and Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS) programs preferred. Computer system administration experience with patient record and verify database applications desirable. Candidates not yet certified must be eligible for board certification and must achieve certification within three years of hire. Must apply for and maintain the relevant state licensing and/or registration required for working as a medical physicist at the clinical site and must do so timely.
