Accountant

Position Overview Staff Property Management Accountant. This role supports day‑to‑day accounting and financial reporting for a portfolio of multifamily properties, including market‑rate and affordable housing communities (LIHTC, HUD, or other subsidized programs). Responsibilities include preparing journal entries, performing reconciliations, assisting with monthly financial reporting, and supporting audits while learning and growing within a collaborative accounting team. Key Responsibilities Core Accounting & Financial Reporting: prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and recurring transactions; perform monthly bank, balance sheet, and general ledger reconciliations; assist in the preparation of monthly and quarterly financial statements; support month‑end and year‑end close processes; maintain accounting schedules and ensure accuracy of financial data. Affordable Housing Support: track and report requirements for LIHTC, HUD, and other affordable housing programs; support compliance and regulatory reporting; maintain documentation and files for investor and syndicator reviews. Market‑Rate Property Support: assist with cash flow tracking, reporting packages, and financial summaries; work with senior accountants to deliver accurate financial information to ownership groups and partners; analyze variances and communicate findings with guidance. Audit & Budget Assistance: prepare audit schedules and PBC (Prepared By Client) documentation; support budgeting by gathering data and assisting with templates and inputs. Team Collaboration & Development: collaborate with Property Management, Compliance, and Asset Management to ensure accurate reporting; participate in team meetings and cross‑functional collaboration; pursue continuous learning in accounting, affordable housing, and systems expertise. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. 1–3 years of professional accounting experience preferred. Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, basic financial modeling). Experience in multi‑family real estate and exposure to property management, real estate, or affordable housing accounting. Experience with Yardi (preferred), MRI, or other property management/accounting platforms. Professional Competencies High attention to detail and accuracy.
