Physical Therapist – Acute Care

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Days | Full-Time | Onsite | Tuesday–Saturday, 9:00 AM–5:30 PM (5x8-hour shifts)

Key Responsibilities

• Perform evaluations, reassessments, and develop individualized plans of care for acute care patients across settings including ER, ICU, Medical-Surgical, and Orthopedics
• Provide gait training, therapeutic exercise (AROM/AAROM/PROM), and functional mobility training utilizing assistive devices such as walkers, gait belts, and crutches
• Deliver patient and family education including home exercise programs, body mechanics, and safe transfer techniques
• Monitor and document vital signs, pain assessments, skin integrity, and strength testing throughout the course of treatment
• Establish short-term goals and discharge plans in coordination with the interdisciplinary care team
• Manage patients with diagnoses including COPD, CHF, CABG, MI, hip and knee injuries, total joint replacements, and post-stroke rehabilitation

Required Qualifications

• Active California Physical Therapist (PT) license in hand at time of submission
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Minimum of 1 year of physical therapy experience
• Proficiency with acute care clinical skills including patient handling, supplemental O2 management, and use of hospital equipment
• Experience with electronic medical records; facility uses Epic

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior experience in geriatrics, orthopedics, or post-surgical rehabilitation settings
• Familiarity with total hip and total knee replacement protocols and post-stroke rehabilitation programs
• Experience working in ICU or ER environments within an acute care hospital
