Drafter – Aluminum Fabrication

Location: Minneapolis, MN
Pay: $50,000–$80,000 annually
Schedule: Full-time, on-site

We are seeking a detail-oriented Drafter to create technical drawings and fabrication packages for aluminum products, including architectural systems, structural components, windows, doors, railings, extrusions, and custom fabrications.

Responsibilities

• Prepare shop, fabrication, assembly, and installation drawings.
• Create 2D drawings and 3D models using AutoCAD and related software.
• Develop cut lists, material takeoffs, and bills of materials.
• Review architectural plans, engineering designs, and customer specifications.
• Work with project managers, estimators, fabricators, and installers to resolve design issues.
• Revise drawings based on change orders, field conditions, and engineering feedback.
• Produce clear, fabrication-ready packages that minimize errors and rework.
• Maintain accurate drawing files, documentation, and version control.

Qualifications

• Two or more years of drafting experience, preferably in metal fabrication, architectural metals, or aluminum products.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD is required.
• Experience with SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar 3D software is preferred.
• Ability to read architectural, structural, and fabrication drawings.
• Understanding of GD&T and metal fabrication processes.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and communication skills.
• Technical certificate or associate degree in drafting, CAD, or mechanical design is preferred.

Experience with aluminum architectural systems, storefronts, curtain walls, custom metalwork, CNC programming, or nesting software is a plus.
