MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN

M-F 10A-6P OVERTIME AND WEEKENDS AS NEEDED

$28-$32/HR

The opportunity The primary function of a Maintenance Technician - Assembly is the safe day-to-day preventative and emergency/unscheduled maintenance tasks of the various assembly, injection molding and other machinery. The Maintenance Technician - Assembly will help oversee the performance and maintenance of large production machinery. This position reports to the Production Supervisor – Assembly. In the absence of the Production Supervisor, this position reports to the Plant Manager. How you will impact WestRock Perform all work in accordance with the highest standards of Smurfit Westrock-Vitop safety policies, ensure all safety policies and processes are enforced. Successfully complete all essential training. Perform daily cleaning of the equipment. Perform rebuilds of parts and have stock of them. Check the equipment for proper functionality. Complete daily the test of the machines and fill up the documentation. Check inventory parts and submit inventory weekly. Support other departments on maintenance duties. Inspect supply equipment for proper machine function. Change fluids, parts, and filters. Clean and maintain equipment. Evaluate and identify equipment issues and repair needs. Test equipment for proper OEM specification. Complete preventive Maintenance logs. Functions as a rigger and/or crane operator for moving, installing, and transporting heavy machinery. Ability to interpret blueprints and schematics. May interface with vendors and suppliers as necessary to discuss products used in repair work and/or projects that need to be completed. Adhere to lock-out tag-out policy and procedures. Work with all departments to meet daily tasks. Learn relevant local and company requirements, rules, and procedures. Strictly follows rules and guidelines and always uses the right procedure for the job. Promptly reports incidents, near-misses, and unsafe conditions or processes. What you need to succeed 3+ years of industrial maintenance mechanic experience, including but not limited to: diagnosing and troubleshooting; preventative maintenance; lockout/tagout procedures. 5+ years of experience working troubleshooting and repairing equipment, knowledge of electrical circuits, and an understanding of hydraulics and pneumatics preferred. High school education or any equivalent combination of training and experience. Minimum of 2 years’ experiences in a manufacturing environment. Ability to work a flexible schedule, which may include overtime and weekend assignments. Ability to work in a team environment and rotate jobs or shifts as needed. Experience with basic hand tools required. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Knowledge Knowledge of safety practices and expectations. Knowledge of quality practices and expectations, and respect for product. Ability to effectively communicate. Knowledge of OSHA requirements to include Machine Guarding and Lockout/Tagout Procedures. Knowledge of Safety ,5S, LEAN /TPS Toyota Production System a plus. Understands and follows Company’s quality and corporate/environmental policies. Understands and follows procedures and work instructions established by Smurfit Westrock - Vitop, USA. Skills Strong mechanical aptitude Numerical control basic knowledge or experience Able to follow written and verbal instruction Technical knowledge of mechanics and electrical operation Experience in controls Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment Skilled in problem solving. Basic reading and math. Basic administrative skills (i.e., filing, organization). Basic mechanical skills.
