Mid-Level Manufacturing EngineerClient/Site: Unison IndustriesLocation: Jacksonville, FL 32256Assignment Duration: 1 YearAnticipated Start: October 2026, or upon completion of the bidding/selection processEmployment Type: ContractCitizenship Requirement: U.S. Citizens OnlyPre-Employment Requirements: Background check and 5-panel drug screenPosition SummaryUnison Industries is seeking an experienced Mid-Level Manufacturing Engineer to support its Ignition Exciter manufacturing operation in Jacksonville, Florida.This role will provide manufacturing engineering leadership and technical support for processes associated with the production of ignition exciters, igniters, speed sensors, harnesses, and related aftermarket repair operations.The Mid-Level Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for driving manufacturing process improvements, troubleshooting complex production and quality issues, implementing tooling and equipment improvements, and supporting engineering changes, Lean initiatives, and new product introduction activities.The successful candidate will have a relevant bachelor's degree and 5–8 years of manufacturing engineering experience, preferably supporting electrical products or manufacturing processes. Experience in aerospace or other regulated manufacturing environments involving electrical products, assemblies, test equipment, or related processes is strongly preferred.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide hands-on manufacturing engineering support for Ignition Exciter manufacturing operations.Lead efforts to improve process performance, production continuity, manufacturing efficiency, throughput, and product quality.Serve as a technical resource to Production, Quality, and Engineering teams for complex manufacturing issues.Develop, maintain, and optimize manufacturing processes, work instructions, process specifications, standard work, and technical documentation.Ensure manufacturing processes and documentation support standardized and compliant production.Lead structured root-cause analysis of manufacturing, quality, equipment, and process problems.Develop, implement, and verify corrective and preventive actions.Identify systemic manufacturing issues and develop sustainable solutions rather than temporary fixes.Lead continuous improvement projects involving cycle-time reduction, scrap reduction, rework reduction, capacity improvement, process capability, and production efficiency.Develop and implement tooling, fixtures, equipment, automation, and process improvements.Evaluate existing manufacturing processes and identify opportunities for improved quality, efficiency, ergonomics, and throughput.Support equipment selection, process validation, implementation, and production readiness.Partner with Quality Engineering on nonconformance investigations, corrective actions, process controls, and quality improvement initiatives.Collaborate with Engineering on product and process changes and ensure effective implementation on the manufacturing floor.Support Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and other engineering changes affecting manufacturing.Support new product introduction activities, including manufacturing readiness, process development, tooling, work instructions, and production implementation.Analyze manufacturing and production data to identify trends, process variation, capacity constraints, and improvement opportunities.Develop and communicate production performance metrics and improvement reports.Support Lean manufacturing initiatives and continuous improvement activities.Work with cross-functional teams to implement standardized work and sustain process improvements.Provide technical guidance and mentoring to less-experienced manufacturing engineering personnel as appropriate.Support manufacturing operations involving electrical products, assemblies, test equipment, and related production processes.Ensure manufacturing activities comply with applicable quality, safety, engineering, and regulatory requirements.Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.5–8 years of manufacturing engineering experience.Demonstrated experience supporting manufacturing processes for electrical products, assemblies, electromechanical products, or related components.Strong experience with manufacturing process development and optimization.Experience developing and maintaining manufacturing documentation and work instructions.Demonstrated experience with root-cause analysis, corrective action, and problem-solving.Experience implementing Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.Experience with tooling, fixture, equipment, or process development/improvement.Strong understanding of production processes, manufacturing controls, and process standardization.Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, schematics, and technical documentation.Strong analytical, project management, and problem-solving skills.Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.Ability to work effectively with Production, Quality, Engineering, and other functional organizations.U.S. citizenship required.Ability to successfully complete a background check and 5-panel drug screen.Preferred QualificationsAerospace manufacturing experience.Experience working in a highly regulated manufacturing environment.Experience with ignition systems, ignition exciters, igniters, speed sensors, electrical assemblies, wiring harnesses, or similar aerospace products.Experience with manufacturing and electrical test equipment.Experience developing production test processes or troubleshooting manufacturing test equipment.Experience with process validation and qualification activities.Familiarity with AS9100 or other aerospace quality systems.Experience with GD&T, engineering drawings, and product specifications.Experience with ECO/ECN implementation.Experience with structured problem-solving methodologies such as 8D, 5-Why, Fishbone, DMAIC, or similar.Experience with Lean tools including 5S, Kaizen, standard work, value-stream mapping, visual management, and waste reduction.Experience with manufacturing data analysis and process capability.Experience leading cross-functional improvement projects.Ideal CandidateThe ideal candidate is a hands-on, technically strong manufacturing engineer capable of working independently on complex manufacturing problems while partnering effectively with Production, Quality, and Engineering.This individual should bring a combination of electrical manufacturing experience, aerospace/regulated manufacturing knowledge, process improvement expertise, and strong root-cause/problem-solving skills. The engineer should be comfortable taking ownership of an issue from initial investigation through corrective action, implementation, and long-term process sustainment.
