Pediatric Hematologist Oncologist - Solid Tumor
Phoenix Children's
Job Description
Job Description
The Pediatric Hematology, Oncology, and Bone Marrow Transplant Division at our organization is looking for a full-time, board-certified or board-eligible pediatric hematologist/oncologist. The selected candidate will become a vital part of our dynamic and expanding division, serving as an attending physician within the Solid Tumor Section.
This role involves being an active and collaborative member of our division and solid tumor section. Key responsibilities encompass clinical care, educational duties, and engagement in clinical research. Although the primary focus is on solid tumors, our team also manages patients with liquid tumors and benign blood disorders in both outpatient and inpatient environments.
Our physicians are responsible for supervising pediatric residents and fellows in various settings and play a significant role in the clinical education of medical students and other learners. Additionally, our staff is engaged in both clinical and laboratory research as well as educational initiatives.
Academic affiliations are established through the University of Arizona-College of Medicine Phoenix, Mayo Clinic Arizona, and Creighton University.
The Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at our facility ranks among the largest pediatric programs nationwide, averaging over 400 new oncology patients annually, with approximately 50% being newly diagnosed with solid tumors.
We maintain active clinical and laboratory research initiatives in oncology (including solid tumors and leukemia/lymphoma), neuro-oncology, survivorship, hematological disorders, and a robust phase I/phase II investigational drug development program.
Our center is a proud participant in COG, POETIC, TACL, Histiocyte Society, and NACHO, providing access to consortium trials, phase I and II industry-sponsored studies, and investigator-initiated trials.
We offer an ACGME-accredited fellowship program in pediatric hematology/oncology, accepting three fellows per year, along with a one-year specialty fellowship in Bone Marrow Transplant.
Our center is recognized as a Center of Excellence, featuring two satellite locations, a team of board-certified attending physicians, fellows, advanced practice providers, and a dedicated support staff that includes social workers, nutritionists, child life specialists, psychologists, mental health therapists, clinical research associates, and research nurses.
As one of the largest free-standing pediatric hospitals in the United States, we have 457 licensed beds and serve as a comprehensive tertiary and quaternary care center, also functioning as a primary teaching facility for medical students from the University of Arizona, Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine, and Creighton University.
We are an equal opportunity employer, offering a competitive salary and benefits package in an environment that fosters both personal and professional development.
The staff physician will deliver patient care services and uphold our mission of providing hope, healing, and exceptional healthcare for children and their families.
About Us:
Our organization is recognized as Arizona's leading children's hospital and serves as a regional hub across the Southwest. With 533 licensed beds and over 1,200 employed or affiliated physicians, we are on the verge of becoming one of the largest children's health systems in the nation. Phoenix is consistently rated among the best places to live in the U.S., enjoying over 300 sunny days each year and easy access to both ocean and mountain attractions.
