Manufacturing Welder 2 - Night Shift - HOLT Manufacturing

This position is responsible for performing moderate manufacturing weld fabrications of various products and components. The MFG Welder 2 demonstrates proficiency with established welding procedures, including tack, stitch, and seal welding, and adheres to standard procedures when setting up parts. The role requires understanding drawings and blueprints, as well as independent or team-based welding services to satisfy customer needs and achieve departmental goals. The work hours are Monday to Thursday, 4 pm to 2:30 am. Mid‑level position: generally 2–4 years of experience or equivalent knowledge/skills, and current or in‑progress certifications in GMAW, FCAW, or SMAW welding in the 1–3 G/F positions is preferred. The MFG Welder 2 has moderate knowledge of manufacturing concepts, practices, and procedures, operates under indirect supervision, and is a self‑starter. Essential Functions Models, promotes, reinforces, and rewards the consistent use of HOLT's Values Based Leadership (VBL) tools to ensure alignment with Vision, Values, and Mission. Adheres to guidelines and procedures when setting up, tack/stitch welding subassemblies, and full product using various tools and fixtures. Assists in developing new fabrication weldment procedures, interpreting drawings, blueprints, and welding symbols. Interprets blueprints, drawings, and welding symbols to complete work orders, fabrication, and welding tasks. Ensures weldments comply with specific welding codes, procedures, and quality standards. Performs oxy/acetylene torch and plasma cutting, and welding across multiple processes. Maintains a high-performance mindset to achieve quality and productivity. Completes tasks with limited supervision. Updates job knowledge through educational opportunities (e.g., ProTech Welder Training Paths). Performs in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and maintains consistency across shifts. Transports material using overhead crane, jibs, carts, magnets, and other devices. Works as part of the manufacturing team to provide high‑quality products that satisfy customers and achieve manufacturing goals. Maintains equipment and work area through regular operator checks and maintenance, ensuring operational equipment and orderly condition (OPM and 5S). Adheres to contamination control and HAZMAT rules and regulations. Communicates variances to established processes. Works overtime as required by workload and customer needs. Supports training and development of new and existing team members. Works safely at all times and adheres to all applicable safety policies, procedures, and standards. Requires regular and punctual employee attendance. Performs other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of weld equipment and dimensional tools, including uses and maintenance. Knowledge of specification and drawing interpretations (drawings, blueprints, computer software). Proficiency with current computer software and related hardware. Good work habits, accuracy, attention to detail, and quality awareness. Technical skills as a skilled and qualified welder and fabricator. Ability to read, write, and understand information. Adaptability to changing schedules and time‑management skills. Ability to follow logical troubleshooting and SOPs during welding fabrication. Problem‑solving skills for Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) processes. Independent and team collaboration with a strong work ethic, dependability, reliability, honesty, and integrity. Operational skills with hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, and fabrication equipment. A self‑starter and self‑motivated with an exceptional safety record. Must complete Values Based Leadership, including: Conflict Resolution SL II for Supervisors Requirements Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Minimum of two years of work‑related skill, knowledge, or experience required; four or more years preferred. Basic welding certifications in GMAW, FCAW, and SMAW welding processes in the 1–3 G/F positions preferred. Supervisory Responsibilities: None Travel: Valid Driver's license required. Physical Requirements Significant amount of standing, walking, kneeling, crouching, stooping, climbing, and reaching. Constant movement and use of limbs, hands; requires good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina. Ascends/descends with gradual or continuous progress by oneself, using both hands and feet; climbs ladders or equipment. Responds to visual, auditory, and other signals, including alarms and instructions; visual inspection required. Moves objects and uses abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue. Maneuvers safely and works underneath equipment. May work in confined workspaces, awkward positions, and high places. Frequently lifts and moves materials and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. Work Environment Requires wearing proper protective and safety equipment (PPE). Works indoors around moving equipment and exposed to welding light flashes and loud noise; may be exposed to weather extremes outdoors. Exposure to small quantities of chemicals, dust, steam, high‑pressure water, and high‑speed rotating equipment. Requires work in cramped spaces and/or on elevated surfaces. Possible exposure to minor burns and cuts; incidents must be reported for proper treatment.
