Firearms Specialist
The Firearms Specialist provides a Dress Blue Experience, and executes departmental procedures and follows all firearms regulations. Reports to the Department Manager, Assistant Store Manager, Operations Manager or Store Manager.
Focuses on delivering a best in class customer experience and driving strong customer engagement with the firearms department. Focuses on solution based selling, offering applicable accessories and services to the customer in addition to the firearm. Required to strictly adhere to all governing bodies' processes/requirements including but not limited to: ATF, FFL, DOD, Marine Corps, State, Corporate and local command for selling, handling, receiving, transferring, inventory management, and records management for all weapons and ammunitions.
Communicates with management to support customer inventory requests and general business needs. Uses exception reporting to identify merchandise categories requiring corrective action to protect sales and customer service levels. Follows the special order process according to standard processes. Supports advertisement and promotional set up requirements including, merchandising, signing, pricing and other tasks as needed.
Must be flexible to support the operations of the building/command they work in. Will actively engage with Sales Managers on all departmental operations including ensuring RIMA (Retail Inventory Management Application) scans are completed and follow through is executed to include inventory adjustments when necessary. Supports and participates year-end inventory planning, execution and researching variance reports.
Will be asked to support store operations in areas of POGs (Planograms), replenishing the sales floor, managing on hand integrity, receiving of products, backroom organization, customer program engagement, cash register duties and other operational tasks both within and outside of the assigned department. May be periodically assigned to work in other areas of the store (outside firearms) when firearms workload is not present, is significantly diminished, or there is more staffing than required workload within firearms.
Mentors, trains and leads by example for firearms employees to achieve best practice and brand standards. Maintains highest service levels, and communicating with all stakeholders, including customers, associates and all management levels. Completes all required training to maintain Firearms eligibility. May work outside of retail in other firearms activities within MCCS including but not limited to the firing range, or target practice facility.
May maintain some or all key holder standards; Opening, closing, vendor management, light custodial duties and register operations/cash handling. May require additional training, certifications or licenses as required by the business / position including but not limited to, food safety training and military star card access. Participates in year-end inventory. Identifies and communicates potential risk of loss and/or theft.
Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy. Delivers a Dress Blue Experience to all customers throughout the customer's shopping journey every day. Strongly promotes the cultivation of MCX corporate culture, mission, core values and promotes Marine Corps Community Services at the store level. Articulates MCX value stories and engages with all management and team members through conversations, modeling behaviors, supporting store team-centric initiatives and driving team member satisfaction. Adheres to safety regulations and standards. Adheres to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment.
Performs other duties as assigned. This is a white-collar position where occasional lifting up to 45 lbs. with assistance may be required. May require loading and unloading of trucks, carts, or pallets.
