Nurse 1 (Registered Nurse) Work Location Toledo Correctional Institute, 2001 East Central Avenue, Toledo, 43608, United States of America – OHIO – Lucas County – Toledo Compensation $78,000 Schedule Full-time Primary Job Skill Nursing Technical Skills Basic Medical Procedures Medical Charting Urgent and Emergency Care Direct Support/Direct Care Nursing Professional Skills Critical Thinking Cultural Awareness Decision Making Problem Solving Teamwork Responsibilities Administers medication (oral, intramuscular, and intravenous) and monitors medication compliance Performs treatments and assists with nurse’s and doctor’s sick calls Assists in nursing management of chronic care clinics Responds to emergencies, providing emergency care and cardiopulmonary resuscitation Conducts subjective and objective assessment of patients Collects vital signs and documents findings in a timely manner Collects urine and other bodily fluid specimens Prepares patients for release or transfer to other facilities, including necessary documentation Ensures discharge medication orders are completed and forwarded to pharmacy services Participates in work‑related training and institutional training exercises Provides assistance to other healthcare staff Investigates and documents problem areas or concerns Reviews shift reports from preceding shifts Assists physicians with medical procedures Assumes duties of other nurses during absences Counsels and provides health education to patients Participates in quality assurance activities Provides training and direction to new nurses, agency nurses, licensed practical nurses, and hospital aides Serves as a resource person for healthcare and security staff on healthcare matters Provides orientation and training to new healthcare personnel under the Nursing Supervisor’s direction Serves as the lead clinical authority on site when the HCA, QIC, medical director, or advanced level provider staff are absent Participates in group programming and health and wellness initiatives Performs administrative duties as indicated Schedules multidisciplinary team meetings Assumes shift charge duties as assigned by the HCA, making work assignments and adjustments as necessary Assists with inventory and ordering of medical supplies Assists ancillary staff to ensure patient care needs are met Qualifications Requires current licensure as a registered professional nurse in the state of Ohio, issued by the Board of Nursing per Section 4723.03 of Ohio Revised Code.
