AWS DevOps / Reliability & Optimization Engineer

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce is seeking an experienced AWS DevOps/Reliability & Optimization Engineer to support our enterprise telecommunications and mass media client.

Overview
This is a hands-on AWS infrastructure and DevOps role focused on platform engineering, automation, reliability, monitoring, and cost optimization. The ideal candidate will have strong AWS expertise, particularly EKS and Terraform, and serve as a technical resource for cloud architecture, troubleshooting, automation, operational excellence, and platform optimization.

Key Responsibilities:
* Maintain and extend Terraform modules; audit AWS environments, identify drift, and reconcile infrastructure through IaC
* Provide expertise in AWS architecture, infrastructure design, troubleshooting, and operational best practices
* Own CI/CD pipeline health and deployment automation across environments
* Support AWS services including EKS, S3, Route53, CloudFront, WAF, Aurora, DocumentDB, Redis, and Amazon MQ
* Maintain resource standards, tagging, vulnerability remediation, and IaC governance
* Build, deploy, and validate releases; maintain documentation and runbooks
* Analyze cloud utilization to identify right-sizing and AWS cost-reduction opportunities
* Improve platform performance, reliability, and operational efficiency
* Partner with development and QA teams to improve application performance and deployment quality
* Provide technical guidance on AWS services and infrastructure decisions
* Own monitoring and alerting using tools such as DataDog and Splunk, including dashboards, alert tuning, and SLA thresholds
* Proactively identify and resolve reliability concerns
* Lead first response, mitigation, recovery, and root cause analysis for production incidents
* Participate in on-call support and drive follow-up actions to completion
* Support vulnerability remediation, infrastructure patching, and compliance initiatives

REQUIREMENTS:
* Strong hands-on AWS experience
* Deep EKS experience in production environments
* Strong Terraform experience, including module development and Infrastructure-as-Code best practices
* Experience with CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation
* Experience troubleshooting complex cloud and infrastructure issues
* Experience with monitoring and observability tools
* Strong communication skills and ability to support development teams

Preferred Qualifications:
* GitLab CI/CD
* DataDog and Splunk
* AWS cost optimization
* Vulnerability remediation and infrastructure compliance
* AMI lifecycle management
* SOC or CMDB exposure
* Bash or scripting experience

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
