This is a part-time position working 24 hours per week and a 10-month appointment. The position offers a balanced work schedule and excellent university benefits.

Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:

This role involves dispensing and verifying prescription medications, refill requests, and vaccine administration. You will review patient medication profiles to identify drug interactions, allergies, therapeutic duplications, and appropriateness of therapy. Counseling patients on medication use, side effects, drug interactions, and self-care treatment options is also part of the job. Additionally, you will assist patients with insurance, billing, medication access, and pharmacy-related questions. Collaboration with healthcare providers on formulary decisions, therapeutic alternatives, and medication management is required. Managing pharmacy inventory, including ordering, stock rotation, controlled substances, expiration monitoring, and regulatory compliance, is essential. Maintaining accurate prescription records, inventory documentation, audits, and pharmacy system data is also necessary. Ensuring compliance with state and federal pharmacy regulations, HIPAA, FERPA, accreditation standards, and institutional policies is crucial. Coordinating prescription transfers between pharmacies and supporting continuity of patient care is part of the responsibilities. Monitoring pharmacy safety, reporting hazards, overseeing pharmacy access controls, and supporting risk management activities are also important. Mentoring pharmacy interns and student employees on pharmacy operations, medication counseling, and professional standards is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working in a university health center.
• Experience mentoring student employees, student workers, and/or interns.
• Experience providing consultations related to mental health medications, preferably with young adult populations.

About Thielen Student Health Center Thielen Student Health Center (TSHC), located next to State Gym and Beyer Hall on campus, provides all of the same services that standard medical clinics can. Students can be seen for illness or injuries, have tests done, receive immunizations, get a physical or check-up, have their prescriptions filled, receive physical therapy, and more.
