Position Overview:

Department: Labor and Delivery

Work Schedule: 7 PM - 7 AM, with rotating weekends and holidays

Preferred Experience: Prior experience in obstetrics is desirable

Salary Range: $31.21 - $49.94

Compensation Type: Hourly

Position Summary:

This role involves overseeing women's services, managing workflow, and utilizing nursing resources effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

• Gather and assess relevant health information to create and execute personalized care plans aimed at achieving measurable outcomes for women and newborns, focusing on family-centered care.
• Facilitate care delivery that emphasizes woman-, newborn-, and family-centered approaches within your professional scope. Implement health education strategies that support health maintenance and restoration in a safe environment.
• Monitor progress towards achieving expected outcomes in the context of family-centered care.
• Make ethical decisions and take actions on behalf of women, fetuses, and newborns, guided by a solid ethical framework. Ensure care practices align with principles of cultural diversity and inclusion.
• Engage in effective communication and collaboration with women, families, healthcare providers, and the community to ensure safe and holistic care.
• Act as a role model, change agent, consultant, and mentor for women, families, healthcare consumers, and fellow professionals. Stay updated on current evidence-based nursing practices.
• Utilize or integrate evidence to identify, assess, and validate interprofessional knowledge and theories in the care of women and newborns. Implement new measures to enhance nursing quality as needed.
• Reflect on personal nursing practice and contribute to the evaluation of peers based on current evidence, professional standards, and regulations. Consider resource factors related to safety, effectiveness, and fiscal responsibility in care planning.
• Ensure environmentally safe and healthy practices when delivering care to women, newborns, and families.
• Apply established evidence-based practices and scientific knowledge in women's services nursing, ensuring care meets age-specific and clinical needs as outlined in departmental guidelines.
• Maintain a constant state of alertness and safety in all activities.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Education:

• Graduate from an accredited nursing program or equivalent educational background for licensing.

Experience:

• No prior experience is necessary.

Physical Requirements:

• Regularly use speech for effective oral communication.
• Consistent standing and walking required.
• Frequent lifting, carrying, and pushing/pulling of objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
• Regular sitting, reaching, and data entry tasks.
• Frequent visual acuity for near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) distances, including color differentiation.
• Regularly use smell to identify and recognize odors.
• Frequent hearing to receive oral communication and detect alarms or machinery issues.
• Occasional lifting and moving of objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
• Occasional patient handling.
• Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, gripping, and repetitive movements of hands and feet.
• Occasional driving may be required.
• Rarely involves crawling or running.

Required Professional Licenses and Certifications:

Location: Missouri

• Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA)
• Registered Nurse (RN) - Missouri Division of Professional Registration
• Or Registered Nurse (RN) from a Compact State
• And one of the following:
• Advanced Life Support (ALS) - American Heart Association (AHA)
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) - American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP)
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - American Heart Association (AHA)
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Essentials - American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP)
