Head of Legal

Job Description FactoryFix helps manufacturers and staffing firms hire skilled industrial talent through AI-powered recruiting. We’re looking for an entrepreneurial Head of Legal to build our legal function and help shape our product and business. The opportunity You’ll begin as our sole in-house attorney, owning both legal strategy and day-to-day execution. This is a hands-on, player-coach role: you’ll do the work directly, bring in outside specialists where needed, and establish scalable processes. As we grow, you’ll help determine when additional legal hires are warranted and build and mentor the team. A close partner to product You’ll work directly with product and engineering from early planning through launch, shaping how our AI sources, screens, evaluates, and engages candidates. You’ll turn questions about privacy, data rights, fairness, transparency, and human oversight into practical product decisions. This isn’t a final-review role. You’ll help determine what we build and how we build it. What you’ll own You’ll lead data privacy and AI governance, negotiate data-provider agreements, and ensure our rights support how candidate information is collected, enriched, used, and shared. You’ll align our data practices, product capabilities, and customer commitments. You’ll partner with sales to address customer questions about AI, privacy, and data use, negotiate commercial agreements, and move deals forward responsibly. You’ll build templates and negotiation guidelines that reduce repeat work and give teams clear answers. You’ll also oversee intellectual property, corporate legal matters, outside counsel, and legal spend, supporting governance, financings, and strategic transactions as needed. What you bring You’re a licensed attorney with substantial technology-company experience, including in-house work directly with product and engineering. You bring deep data-privacy expertise, strong fluency in AI and its recruiting applications, and experience negotiating complex customer, vendor, and data agreements. You can point to products you helped shape, difficult data-use decisions you worked through, and processes you built. HR tech or recruiting-technology experience is a major plus. You’re entrepreneurial, commercially minded, and comfortable with ambiguity. You explain tradeoffs clearly, make recommendations, and know when to handle something yourself versus bring in specialized help.
