Job Description

Under general supervision, responsible for providing skilled craftsmanship as a journeyman carpenter.

Responsibilities

Completes carpentry work in the construction, alteration, repair and maintenance of new and existing buildings, floors (tiles, ceramic and VCT), roofs, walls, stairways, doors, windows, cabinets, ceiling tiles, restroom partitions cabinets and other structures.

Locates seals, and repairs leaks and transitions.

Maintains record of repair and location.

Operates power saws, planers, jointers, hand tools and other equipment.

Selects wood, cuts to size, and sands the surface.

Cleans, sharpens, and repairs hand tools, bench tools, saws and other equipment.

Performs preventive maintenance on all equipment.

Assists with time estimates and materials required for a job.

Assists other trades as needed to include plumbing and electrical.

Performs all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Knowledge of materials, methods and tools involved in construction or repair.

Ability to install, repair and select appropriate equipment to complete job.

Knowledge in repairing floor tiles (VCT or Ceramic).

Knowledge in industrial roof repairs.

Knowledge on the installation, waterproofing, repair, and maintenance of sheet metal/lead flashing.

Extensive knowledge in the operation and care of associated large and small power equipment and hand tools.

Proficient verbal and written communication skills.

Demonstrated ability to accurately read blueprints.

Ability to comply with safety and environmental guidelines.

EDUCATION:

High school diploma or GED is required.

LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS:

Valid TX Driver's License is required - must have a clear driving record.

This position may require the ability to maintain the security and integrity of UT San Antonio and its infrastructure per Texas EO-GA-48.

Required Skills

Three (3) years related experience is required.
