Location 375 Dixmyth Ave, Cincinnati, OH 45220 Work Schedule Full Time Nights - 72 hours bi-weekly 7:00pm - 7:30am Every 3rd weekend rotation Holiday rotation The Orthopedic Surgery Unit at Good Samaritan Hospital is a 21-bed unit dedicated to providing exceptional care to adult and geriatric patients recovering from a wide range of orthopedic procedures. From joint replacements to complex fracture repairs, the team specializes in helping patients regain mobility and independence. This fast‑paced, hands‑on unit combines expert surgical recovery care with a patient‑centered approach, ensuring optimal outcomes and a smooth transition from hospital to home. The unit has garnered the esteemed Gold Seal Certification from The Joint Commission as an Orthopedic Center of Excellence for all total joint surgeries. Nurses on the unit enjoy a collaborative and supportive work environment with 12‑hour shifts and self‑scheduling. Shifts are planned on a 6‑week rotation, with weekend and holiday rotations thoughtfully incorporated. Flexibility is key, and the team works together to accommodate individual needs while maintaining excellent patient care. New team members begin with a 6‑week orientation alongside a dedicated preceptor, receiving personalized guidance and support designed to build confidence in managing orthopedic recovery protocols, mobility assistance techniques, pain management, and patient education. Job Requirements Associate's Degree or Diploma in Nursing New hires required to obtain BSN within 5 years of hire. Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS/CPR) certification Registered Nurse license Knowledge, judgment, and skills derived from the principles of biological, physical, behavioral, social, and nursing sciences to meet complex health care needs at various stages of the life cycle. Preferred membership in related professional organization RNs with more than 1 year full‑time or 2 years part‑time acute care experience Preferred certification in specialty Job Responsibilities Perform and document initial and ongoing patient/family assessments. Develop, communicate, and update individualized plans of care, including discharge planning. Provide safe, patient‑centered care that supports autonomy, dignity, and diversity. Recognize and respond to emergencies and take appropriate clinical action. Carry out physician orders accurately and in a timely manner. Complete assigned care and documentation within required timeframes. Administer medications/treatments safely and perform technical skills per policy. Evaluate patient responses and revise the plan of care in collaboration with the healthcare team. Supervise and delegate tasks appropriately to other team members. Serve as a clinical resource and support training/education of staff and students. Maintain current clinical knowledge and adhere to organizational and departmental standards.
