This position offers the chance to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment that's constantly evolving.Position PurposeThe Assistant Grocery Manager assists the Grocery Manager in directing the daily operations of the Grocery Department. This position helps ensure superior customer service, proper merchandising, inventory control, associate development, and achievement of department sales and profitability goals. The Assistant Grocery Manager serves as a department leader and assumes responsibility for department operations in the absence of the Grocery Manager.Key Responsibilities Department LeadershipAssist in supervising and directing daily grocery department operations.Lead and motivate associates to achieve department goals and performance expectations.Provide coaching, training, and development for grocery associates.Support hiring, onboarding, and performance management activities.Assume department leadership responsibilities in the absence of the Grocery Manager.Merchandising & Inventory ManagementEnsure shelves, displays, end caps, and promotional areas are properly stocked and merchandised.Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering merchandise.Maintain accurate pricing, signage, and promotional execution.Ensure proper product rotation and inventory control procedures.Reduce shrink through effective inventory management and operational practices.Customer ServiceDeliver and promote exceptional customer service throughout the department.Assist customers with product selection, questions, and special requests.Resolve customer concerns promptly and professionally.Foster a customer-focused culture among department associates.Department OperationsMonitor product availability and ensure in-stock conditions are maintained.Assist with receiving, stocking, and replenishment activities.Coordinate department workload to maximize productivity and efficiency.Support execution of seasonal, promotional, and company merchandising programs.Maintain department cleanliness, organization, and operational standards.Financial PerformanceSupport achievement of department sales, labor, gross profit, and shrink goals.Review department performance and identify opportunities for improvement.Assist with labor planning and scheduling.Help control operating expenses and maximize productivity.Safety & ComplianceEnsure compliance with company policies, food safety requirements, and operational procedures.Promote safe work practices and proper equipment usage.Maintain a clean and safe work environment.Support compliance with regulatory requirements and internal audits.We also provide a variety of benefits including:Competitive wages paid weeklyAccess to up to 50% of your earned wages before payday, via our partnership with StreamAssociate discountsHealth and financial well-being benefits for eligible associates (Medical, Dental, 401k and more!)Time off (vacation, holidays, sick pay).
