This role owns engineering initiatives from opportunity identification through implementation and validation, using data, engineering principles, and business case development to guide decisions. Working cross-functionally with maintenance, operations, and engineering partners, this position delivers scalable solutions that improve equipment performance, maintainability, resiliency, and overall cost efficiency. About the team: Our team is focused on improving the performance, maintainability, and resiliency of Walmart’s growing Automated Perishable Distribution network. We identify opportunities across the network, develop and validate engineering solutions, and scale successful designs that improve equipment uptime, increase capacity, and reduce cost to serve. Our work combines hands-on problem solving with long-term engineering strategy to deliver solutions that are practical, scalable, and built to last. What you'll do:Leverage data and site performance insights to identify and prioritize automation improvement opportunities.Deliver machine enhancement initiatives from concept through design, validation, and implementation.Develop scalable solutions that improve equipment performance, reliability, and maintainability.Partner across maintenance, operations, engineering, and external teams to deliver practical solutions.Build business cases, project plans, and validation criteria to support investment and implementation decisions.Communicate findings, risks, and recommendations clearly to stakeholders and leadership.What you'll bring:Engineering experience designing, integrating, troubleshooting, or improving automation and material handling systems in live operating environments.Strong proficiency in data analysis and advanced analytics to identify performance opportunities and guide engineering decisions.Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, including planning, scheduling, and resource allocation.Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean Six Sigma or Kaizen.Deep understanding of mechanical systems, failure modes, design fundamentals, and maintainability principles.Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills across technical and operational teams.
