We are seeking a dependable, service-driven Deli Clerk to join our team at Hen House. As part of the Balls Food Stores family, we offer the stability of a locally owned company with deep community roots.This is a great fit for someone who enjoys a hands-on role, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and takes pride in providing great service while working with high-quality food products.Key Responsibilities & Job DutiesProvide friendly, helpful, and respectful guest service at all times to ensure a positive shopping experience and encourage repeat visitsPrepare, slice, and package deli meats and cheeses to order while following proper food safety and equipment handling proceduresPrepare, cook, and stock deli items such as rotisserie chicken, salads, hot bar items, and grab-and-go meals according to quality and production standardsMaintain product freshness, labeling, and visual merchandising standards in deli cases and displaysEngage with guests to answer questions, provide recommendations, and offer meal solutionsDevelop and maintain knowledge of deli and store products, including features, pricing, and locationMaintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment to promote health, safety, and a professional appearanceFollow all food safety, sanitation, and personal hygiene guidelines to ensure compliance and guest safetyOperate deli equipment (slicers, scales, packaging tools) and POS systems accuratelyStock, rotate, and face products using FIFO methods to ensure freshness and minimize wasteMonitor inventory levels and report low, excess, or damaged items to leadershipCommunicate clearly with teammates and collaborate across departments to support storewide efficiency and guest satisfactionAdhere to company policies and procedures, including attendance, conduct, and dress code standardsSupport loss prevention efforts by staying alert and following proper proceduresAssist with cleaning, restocking, and supporting other departments as neededRemain productive during slower periods by maintaining department readiness and preparing productsOther job duties as assignedMinimum QualificationsRequired: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent work experienceRequired: Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidaysPreferred: Experience in grocery, retail, or food service environments
