BASIC FUNCTION: The Translator-Interpreter will translate and produce a variety of general, technical, legal and medical documents, materials and script between English and designated language for schools and district office staff; provide simultaneous interpretations during formal presentations at schools and district meeting sites using district interpretation equipment. The district covers a large portion of San Diego County. Refer to the District Area Map at this Link and make sure to identify all specific area(s) you are interested in working in. The area(s) you identify in your application will be used for any future vacancies filled using the eligibility list from this recruitment. Work Schedule: 12 months per year. While most positions in this job classification are full-time at 40 hours per week, some may be offered at 30 hours per week. NOTE: This position requires daily travel to different sites to provide interpretation for a variety of meetings, timely completion of translation assignments, as well as a professional commitment to continuous learning of new terms and tools that support our work. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience: Any combination of training, experience, and/or education equivalent to completion of college-level courses in the designated foreign language and one year of increasingly responsible experience in translating written documents and providing oral interpretation, preferably in a school environment.
