School Social Worker

Promote the emotional, social, and physical growth of scholars in elementary school.

Responsibilities:

• Provide social work services to scholars and families in alignment with the school's vision to see all scholars reach high levels of academic success.
• Work collaboratively with a team of educators and support staff to assess students and develop strategies for success in the classroom.
• Provide individual, family, and group therapy to children, adolescents, and their families.
• Decide frequency, focus, and duration of counseling on a case-by-case basis.
• Provide consultation to teachers and to Christopher House staff members regarding specific children and specific treatment issues.
• Make home visits to clients when appropriate.
• Participate as a member of the school's IEP team.
• Participate in required assessment planning, eligibility determination, 504 Plan, and IEP meetings as needed.
• Participate in staffing by making observations of the child and obtaining and sharing relevant family background information.
• Work collaboratively to integrate services with all departments, staff, and volunteers.
• Provide parent educational workshops regarding topics requested by parents and common challenges among our families and scholars.
• Prioritize student safety through consistent implementation of the Student Code of Conduct and school wide systems of management and discipline.
• Manage each case with necessary documentation.
• Ensure all service delivery information is provided in alignment with scholar IEPs.
• Ensure timely and accurate records are recorded regarding service provision.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) Professional Educators License (PEL)
• Master's degree from accredited university in the area of Social Work
• Illinois type 73 in School Social Work
• Two years of experience as a school Social Worker preferred.
• Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
• Ability to sit, stand, bend, stoop, kneel, walk, go up and down stairs daily, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.
