Position Title: Fleet Diesel MechanicReports To: Fleet SupervisorFLSA Status: Non-Exempt, HourlyJob Type: Full TimeDirect Reports: NoPPE Requirements: Safety glasses as requiredOther Specifications: Highly Physical Position – Physical requirementsRequired to train on the job and obtain Class-A CDL within 1 yearMust have personal tools and tool boxPosition Summary:The Fleet Diesel Mechanic performs safe, quality preventative maintenance and repairs on all company vehicles and equipment including diesel and gas engines, and propane and electric forklifts. Our growing fleet includes tractors, trailers, and 32,000 lb medium duty delivery vehicles. This individual will work with an experienced mechanic to continue to gain progressive ability and experience in performing maintenance and repairs and learn to recognize potential problems or mechanical failures and safety violations.We are seeking a positive, strong team player who is a self motivated problem solver, eager to grow and develop skills, possessing a high degree of integrity. This position requires an individual to be a quick study and learn on the job.Essential Functions of the Position:Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on all company vehicles and equipment in accordance to company and DOT standardsDiagnose mechanical problems and make quality safe repairs on assigned fleet and perform daily scheduled and unscheduled repairsPerform safe and timely road calls on disabled vehiclesMaintain all repair records and documentation to DOT complianceMaintain a neat and clean work environment and return all tools and equipment to designated areas dailyBasic computer skills and ability to navigate websites, forums, and parts sitesIdentify and order necessary replacement partsRead, diagnose, and troubleshoot electrical schematicsMonitor daily pre and post trip DOT records making repairs as neededReport and identify vehicle and equipment damage to supervisor immediatelyFollow all company policies, procedures and DOT and OSHA related compliance and lawsMaintain shop cleanliness and safety standards according to Company GMP’s and OSHA standardsMaintain a high level of customer service and satisfaction to support a good working relationship with all departmentsFoster and maintain strong communication and relationships with all drivers and their supervisorsPerform daily work duties as assigned and fill out daily activity sheets as requiredFollow-up on all unfinished work details that need to be completedPhysical Requirements:Ability to perform heavy lifting, carrying, frequent standing, sitting, walking, bending, twisting, stooping, squatting, kneeling, bending, and reachingMust be able to drive for long periods of time as neededAbility to work indoor/ outdoor temperature/ environments, noisy conditions, and near parts cleaning solvents, petroleum based lubricants other fluids related to the jobAbility to comprehend and follow verbal and written instructionsBe able to perform job duties with direction in a timely, safe mannerAdhere to all safety guidelines and comply with PPE requirementsFollow all company policies, procedures and DOT related compliance and lawsPosition Requirements:3-5 years relevant work experienceHS Diploma/ GED, or equivalentCertified Diesel Mechanic preferred; equivalent experience acceptableValid KY Driver’s License and safe driving record required; Class A or B CDL preferredMust be able to meet regulatory requirements to operate vehicles and other equipment used as well as the ability to obtain a Class A- CDL (required following a period of on the on training)Ability to work a flexible work schedule (Including weekends and holidays when required)Ability to fulfill on-call requirementsMust have personal tools and tool boxMust be at least 21 years of ageExcellent communication and listening skillsAbility to adapt to changing organizational and operational needsAbility to handle multiple tasks simultaneously with good and safe judgment and decision makingAttend fleet specific training courses and clinicsMeet Ale-8-One’s Behavior Standard – to maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating with integrity and in a respectful manner with employees, co-workers, managers, customers, the public, and all business relationshipsThis is a full-time position with competitive benefit package, including medical, dental, vision, company paid life insurance and company paid long term and short-term disability insurance.
