Our Values Respect | Belonging | Accountability | Transparency Department Labor and DeliveryThe Labor and Delivery (L&D) department is one of three units, alongside the Obstetrics Emergency Department (OBED) and Obstetrics Special Care Unit (OBSCU). L&D is a 15-bed unit dedicated to caring for both low- and high-risk mothers. It supports both medicated and unmedicated birth options, with nursing staff skilled in diverse labor support techniques. The unit is also equipped with three operating rooms and five Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) bays. The unit staffing mix includes nursing, OB scrub techs, residents, Certified Nurse Midwives, Doulas and OBGYN's. The OBSR is an eight-bed urgent care unit where we triage expectant moms who are 14 or more weeks pregnant and need urgent care or observation. The OBSR is open 24/7 and is staffed by certified nurse midwives and registered nurses who work closely with OB/GYN physicians to provide the best care possible. OBSR nurses also care for patients up to six-weeks post-partum. The OBSCU is a three-six bed high risk antepartum unit where care is provided for pregnant patients or postpartum patients having obstetric related health concerns. Patients requiring close monitoring until stable for discharge home, or transfer to Labor & Delivery for higher level of care receive their care here. Job Summary Under general supervision, provides administrative and clerical assistance to support the operation of the assigned nursing unit. Collaborates with other staff and leaders in the development, management, and operation of the unit. Essential Functions :

* Monitors incoming computerized or written orders in a timely and accurate manner. Transcribes physicians' orders accurately. Notifies RN of STAT orders. Clarifies difficult to read orders. (20%) * Acts as a greeter to the unit in a manner that shows awareness of cultural and age differences. Always maintains patient confidentially. Performs all duties in relating to the public, patients, and families with customer satisfaction as a goal. Answers phones and call lights in a timely manner. Takes accurate messages and relays patient info to Nursing. (20%) * Activates patients in appropriate systems. Obtains medical record number and patient stickers. Prepares chart, patient bands, and appropriate paperwork. Transfer patients' information when necessary. Ensures paperwork is submitted and exchanged. (20%) * Prepares discharge, transfer or demise records and completes paperwork. Ensures records are ready to send to Medical Records. Prepares and distributes Flow Sheets for required units each day. Files face sheets, lab slips, and appointments in each patient chart on required units. (20%) * Prepares laboratory slips, enters orders in the computer, and calls/schedules appointments according to written or verbal orders. Organizes charts. (10%) * Interacts in a professional manner with colleagues and the public, consistent wit the Denver Dozen, and the mission of Denver Health. Participates in the peer review process.0 (10%)

Education :

* No High School Diploma and/or No GED

Work Experience :

* 1-3 years clerical or customer service experience Required

Licenses :

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :

* Knowledge of medical terminology. * Must have mathematical and organizational abilities. * Good written and oral communication skills. * Must be detail oriented and able to problem solve minor issues. * Able to work in and around a busy surgical setting. * Ability to read and follow written instructions and to write brief notes about activities performed during the shift. * Ability to cover more than one unit. * Microsoft Office Suite required
