Lower end of range will apply to candidates who meet minimum experience or have limited years of relevant experience. The higher end of range will apply to seasoned candidates with considerable years of relevant experience.
**This position requires CA residency and the ability to provide onsite work. Must be able to work on-site/in-person a minimum of three (3) days per week, with additional in-person days required to support new hire orientation and open enrollment as needed.**

PATH is seeking candidates passionate about helping others make a positive change in their lives to join our Human Resources Team as the Benefits Administration Specialist, working out of our main office in Los Angeles, California.

Since its foundation in 1984, PATH (People Assisting The Homeless) has pioneered bold and effective approaches to assist people experiencing homelessness. PATH operates services throughout California, connecting our clients to a comprehensive continuum of homelessness prevention, street outreach, employment preparation and placement assistance, individualized case management, supportive services, interim housing, and permanent supportive housing.
ABOUT OUR HUMAN RESOURCES TEAM
PATH's Human Resources Team is comprised of multiple divisions within HR, such as Payroll, Employee Relations, Staffing and Recruitment, Compensation, Leave of Absence, and Benefits. ABOUT THE BENEFITS ADMINISTRATION SPECIALIST
As part of the HR department, the Benefits Admin Specialist serves as a critical resource for benefits-related inquiries, issue resolution, and supports the administration of employee benefits programs.
Position Responsibilities:
- Conduct New Hire Benefits Orientations and prepare benefits packets for new hires ensuring materials are current.
- Monitor and manage the Benefits email inbox and promptly respond to employee inquiries and items requiring action, troubleshooting benefits-related issues.
- Process new benefits enrollments on a weekly basis and administer Qualifying Life Events (QLEs) in accordance with plan rules and timelines.
- Collect, review, and maintain Proof of Relationship documentation and Evidence of Insurability (EOI) forms.
- Ensure accurate benefits processing for employees transitioning between full-time and part-time status.
- Administer benefits for employees on Leave of Absence, including but not limited to, premium collection and open enrollment processing.
- Prepare separation and final benefits packets, process employee terminations in related systems, and complete COBRA separation and new-hire notice verifications in designated benefits administration systems.
- Review benefits deductions for every payroll processing and reconcile 403(b) and FSA contributions.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- PHR, SPHR, SHRM, CEBS or other certification.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Four (4) years of experience in Human Resources with at least two (2) years focused in Benefits.
MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS
Regardless of qualifications, candidates must:
- Have employment eligibility verification
- Have or be able and willing to obtain CPR/First Aid training
- Successfully complete the following as a condition of hire:
- Tuberculosis Test
- Background Screening
- Drug Test
DRIVING
Driving is an essential function of this position. To meet the employment requirements for this role, all candidates must:
- Have reliable transportation
- A valid driver's license
- Proof of insurance and ownership for personal vehicles used during work duties
- The ability to qualify for PATH's insurance coverage
