Environmental Protection Specialist

As an Environmental Protection Specialist, you will:

Develop policies, standards, and operational guidelines necessary to maintain regulatory compliance across all phases of hazardous and radioactive waste and material management.
Provide strategic reviews and evaluations of EM compliance policies to resolve highly complex, sensitive, and controversial regulatory and program-level issues.
Oversee environmental planning to ensure compliance with Department of Energy (DOE) policies and management guidance.
Safeguard classified information and restricted data while conducting environmental assessments.
Analyze the viability, maturity, and risk of new environmental technologies and management concepts to solve complex problems and reduce program risks.
Represent the agency on high-level interagency task forces, collaborating with external regulatory bodies (such as the EPA and NRC) to reconcile conflicting stakeholder viewpoints.
