Overview:
As a Lab Phlebotomist, you will be the frontline interface between patients and laboratory services. Your skillful collection of blood specimens, combined with compassionate patient interaction and adherence to strict safety protocols, ensures reliable test results and positive patient experiences. Responsibilities:

Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection from patients of all ages, including pediatric and geriatric populations.

Prepare specimens for laboratory testing following established procedures, ensuring accuracy and specimen integrity.

Clearly explain collection procedures to patients, creating an atmosphere of trust and confidence.

Maintain accurate documentation of all specimen collections, labels, and patient information in accordance with lab protocols.

Follow safety guidelines and infection control protocols to maintain a clean, safe, and professional environment.

Assist with other specimen processing tasks as required, supporting overall laboratory operations.

Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and healthcare providers to ensure smooth workflow and high-quality service delivery.

Maintain a professional appearance and attitude, promoting a positive image within the clinical setting.

Required Skills:

Proven proficiency in phlebotomy with the ability to draw blood accurately from diverse patient populations.

Excellent communication and patient interaction skills, with the ability to explain procedures compassionately.

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to ensure accurate labeling and record keeping.

Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Basic computer proficiency for data entry and documentation purposes.

Knowledge of safety standards, infection control, and professional conduct in a healthcare setting.

Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish highly preferred, with excellent understanding of both languages.

Nice to Have Skills:

Experience working in a healthcare or clinical laboratory environment.

Certification in phlebotomy (required in some states), Medical Assistant, or related healthcare training.

Familiarity with laboratory information systems (LIS) or electronic health records (EHR).

Experience performing venipuncture on pediatric and geriatric patients.

Preferred Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent required.

At least 6 months of phlebotomy experience in a clinical or laboratory setting is required; 1+ years preferred.

Medical assistant or paramedic training is a plus.

Phlebotomy certification, especially for candidates in California, Nevada, and Washington, is strongly preferred or required.

Other Requirements:

Must be flexible and available to work scheduled shifts, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call as needed.

Reliable transportation is essential; candidates must be able to commute within a 20-25 minute radius of the worksite without issue.

Strong punctuality and attendance are critical. Excessive tardiness or absenteeism may result in employment action.

Physical ability to stand for extended periods, perform venipuncture, and handle specimen processing.
