Highway Design Project Engineer IIIAt RK&K, we are seeking motivated Highway Design Project Engineer III in Tennessee who wants to provide better transportation for our local communities! As a Project Engineer at RK&K, you will join our multimodal Transportation Design team and provide creative input and leadership for projects with a wide variety of state, county and municipal public works and transportation agencies. You will collaborate with coworkers, peers, clients, agency leaders and community representatives to develop transportation improvements that serve a diverse range of users and travel modes, enhance safety and make communities better places to live. Our team-oriented environment is supported by subject matter experts and experienced mentors that will help you grow and achieve your career goals!Essential FunctionsPerform a wide variety of engineering tasks for new roadways, roadway widening, streetscapes, complete streets, trails, bicycle/pedestrian facilities, transit, intersections, interchanges, roundabouts and the development of concepts, studies, contract plans, cost estimates and specificationsCollaborate and lead a project team to develop complete, accurate and cost-effective design recommendations that enhance function, safety, multimodal travel and community needApply applicable federal, state and local guidelines and standardsLead design projects to ensure high-quality deliverables are completed within budget and on scheduleCoordinate with clients, contractors, consultants, communities, government agencies, and project staffWork in a collaborative environment with a diverse and energetic multi-disciplined project teamRequired Skills and ExperienceEight (8) + years of experience in civil and/or transportation/highway engineeringBS in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited engineering programProficiency in MicroStation V8i, GEOPAK/OpenRoads, InRoads, and/or AutoCAD Civil3DProfessional Engineering Registration (PE) or the ability to secure within 6 months of hirePreferred Skills and ExperienceIn-depth understanding of transportation planning reports, contract documents, Highway Design Standards and TDOT, AASHTO and other local highway design manuals and guidelinesProficiency with MS Word and ExcelCapable of leading transportation design projects in a dynamic, fast-paced team-oriented environmentStrong written and oral communication skillsOther DutiesThis job description indicates the general nature and levels of work, knowledge, skills, abilities and other essential functions (as covered under ADA) expected.
