Location Bluefield, Virginia 654 Camp Joy Road Bldg 2, Suite B Bluefield, VA 24605, USA Fenner Dunlop is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Diagnostic Technician to join our Bluefield Support Services team. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the manufacture, installation, commissioning, testing, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of conveyor diagnostic products and services. This position utilizes diagnostic and non‑destructive testing (NDT) equipment in industrial and mining environments to perform inspections, analyze data, and prepare comprehensive technical reports. The role also supports production activities, inventory management, customer technical support, and training initiatives while maintaining a strong commitment to safety, quality, and customer service. For over 150 years, Fenner Dunlop has researched, designed, developed, manufactured, and tested its conveyor belting products, supporting nearly any type of conveyor application, and providing the right solutions to protect conveyor system investments in the harshest conveying environments. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Diagnostic Services & Technical Support Coordinate with internal teams and external customers to support the manufacture, improvement, testing, and implementation of conveyor diagnostic products and services. Utilize NDT and diagnostic equipment in industrial and mining environments to perform inspections, data collection, analysis, and reporting. Install, commission, troubleshoot, maintain, and provide technical support for conveyor diagnostic systems and equipment. Evaluate specifications, technical manuals, drawings, and operational data to assess feasibility, maintenance requirements, and performance improvements. Prepare and maintain technical documentation, reports, and records to ensure compliance with company standards and customer requirements. Conduct technical training for internal personnel and customers on conveyor diagnostic systems and related equipment. Identify potential business opportunities and communicate sales leads or customer needs to the appropriate department(s). Production & Support Services Receive and organize incoming raw materials, components, and supplies. Support production activities as required, including the manufacture of splice kits, inductive loops, RFID components, and related products. Assist in achieving production targets and maintaining appropriate inventory levels. Train new and existing support personnel on equipment, processes, and job requirements. Safety & Compliance Perform all work in compliance with applicable legislation, company policies, customer requirements, and safety standards. Conduct work activities in a safe manner and actively promote a strong safety culture internally and externally. Participate in risk assessments, hazard identification, and continuous safety improvement initiatives. Ensure proper care, maintenance, and safe operation of tools, equipment, and company assets. Perform other duties as assigned. Education & Experience Associate’s of Science degree in a relevant technical field or evaluated equivalent combination of education and experience. 0 to 1 years of experience in a relevant technical field preferred. Experience working in industrial, manufacturing, mining, or conveyor system environments preferred. Experience with diagnostic systems, NDT equipment, troubleshooting, or technical service work preferred. Qualifications Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills. Ability to read and interpret technical documents, schematics, manuals, and specifications. Strong communication, organizational, and problem‑solving skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in field and shop environments. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and technical reporting systems preferred. Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to: Frequently stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, climb, and work in industrial environments. Frequently use hands for grasping, pulling, pushing, reaching, and repetitive manual tasks. Lift, carry, and move materials, tools, and equipment up to 50 pounds. Work at heights, in confined spaces, and around moving mechanical equipment as required. Travel to customer locations, industrial sites, and mining operations as needed. Working Conditions Work is performed in manufacturing facilities, warehouses, industrial plants, mining environments, and customer job sites. Exposure to varying temperatures, dust, noise, vibration, and outdoor conditions may occur. May require overtime, weekend work, and travel based on operational and customer needs. Travel Required >25% Use of required personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory.
