Pediatric Ambulatory Specialty Nurse; Registered Nurse

Registered Professional Nurse Role As an integral member of the Yale New Haven Health System (YNHHS) healthcare team, the Registered Professional Nurse (RN) upholds the YNHHS mission, vision, values and strategic initiatives to provide the highest level of patient‑centered care. The RN practices professional nursing within the established legal and ethical framework of the Connecticut Nurse Practice Act, ANA Scope and Standards for Nursing Practice, ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses, and the YNHHS Professional Practice Model. The RN’s role exemplifies leadership, delegation, collaboration, effective communication, and a commitment to quality outcomes. Responsibilities Standards of Practice: Follow the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice (2015) to deliver competent nursing care. Conduct the nursing process—assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, evaluation—while coordinating care, teaching, health promotion, and evaluating progress toward outcomes. Standards of Professional Performance: Engage in professional role activities aligned with ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence‑based practice, quality evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health. Qualifications Education: Graduation from an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred. Licensure: Licensed and currently registered as a nurse in the State of Connecticut. Clinical specialty certification highly encouraged. Experience: Registered Nurse is the foundational job description for all RNs. All RNs are encouraged to advance through the SPIRE clinical advancement program. Additional Experience: At least 2–3 years RN experience in an inpatient or outpatient setting required. Relevant experience in the specialty area, pediatrics preferred. Physical Demands: Requires prolonged standing, walking, use of sight, hearing, and touch. Exposure to infectious diseases, physical, mental and emotional illness, end‑of‑life conditions, and moderate stress.
