What To Expect Tesla’s world‑class Cell Manufacturing Engineering team is looking for a highly motivated Manufacturing Engineering Technician. This role will be involved in the development, commissioning and ramping of custom powder processing equipment, while working in a cross‑functional team to test, validate, and roll‑out process and product design changes. Cell mixing process is a critical component in Tesla cell manufacturing. This role will have the opportunity to make meaningful contributions to our products. What You’ll Do Support development, commissioning, and ramp of custom powder processing equipment. Perform equipment setup, operation, adjustments, and necessary maintenance tasks to meet safety, quality, and efficiency standards for equipment development and commissioning stages. Work collaboratively as the manufacturing equipment support to ensure production lines run safely and efficiently, producing high‑quality parts. Work closely with Manufacturing Engineers and suppliers to identify inline issues, potential solutions, and engineering improvements during development and commissioning. Debug and optimize automated processes to reduce cycle times and maximize OEE. Troubleshoot and recover processes using PLC, HMI, or tool management software, and implement changes or improvements. Provide hands‑on support to operations and maintenance teams to troubleshoot and resolve extended downtime situations. Identify equipment critical spare parts and ensure sufficient coverage to prevent extended downtime. Build operating procedures, training material, maintenance routines, and related documentation for equipment lifecycle management. Assemble and test manufactured goods for dedicated tooling and processes. Conduct analytical tests, measure, record and interpret data using defined tools and software. Support safety and ergonomic improvements to production equipment that meet or exceed regulations or best practices. Participate in supplier or internal equipment FAT and SAT. Support FMEA and risk assessment activities to ensure design and manufacturing issues are identified and risks mitigated. What You’ll Bring Five or more years of hands‑on operational and technical experience with manufacturing equipment and knowledge of root cause analysis and resolution pathways in a dynamic, high‑volume environment. Metal working skills such as band saws, grinders, mills, lathes, and use of hand and power tools, pneumatic equipment. Experience in low‑voltage systems and knowledge of electrical hazards. Ability to use basic electrical tools such as a digital multimeter, meg‑ohm tester, thermocouple meters, and basic wiring to connect sensors, power supplies, and data acquisition to test platforms. Strong manual dexterity and visual acuity to perform delicate assembly and disassembly tasks. Ability to lift and sort parts up to 20 pounds as needed. Proficiency in using technological tools and business system applications to manage, synthesize, and interpret data. Excellent attention to detail, organization, structured thinking, and problem‑solving abilities. A data‑driven approach and familiarity with statistical software is a plus. Knowledge of Battery Cell technology and a willingness to learn new equipment related to it is a plus. Command of the English language, both written and verbal.
