Summary

The Senior Manager, Pharmacy Operations provides strategic leadership and site-level alignment for back-end mail-order pharmacy operations. This role is responsible for driving operational excellence, financial performance, compliance, talent development, and cross-functional collaboration while supporting the successful execution of enterprise initiatives and business objectives.

A Brief Overview
Manages day-to-day operations of pharmacy support staff by providing strategic leadership and oversight for pharmacy support operations. Develops and implements operational strategies, establishes performance metrics, and drives process improvements to contribute to strategic decision-making regarding pharmacy support initiatives and goals. Collaborates with stakeholders, such as pharmacists and healthcare providers, to ensure effective communication, efficient workflow coordination, and adherence to quality and safety standards. Fosters a supportive and productive work environment and facilitates professional development opportunities for the team.

What you will do

• Provide strategic leadership and oversight of all site operations to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient workflows while achieving service, quality, productivity, and customer commitments.
• Develop and implement operational strategies, policies, and procedures that drive operational excellence, continuous improvement, and optimal resource utilization.
• Maintain accountability for site financial performance, including budget development, forecasting, expense management, productivity, and achievement of business objectives.
• Lead pharmacy quality, compliance, and patient safety programs by ensuring adherence to all state and federal regulations, accreditation standards, controlled substance requirements, and patient privacy standards.
• Oversee medication safety initiatives, including programs designed to prevent medication errors and promote safe dispensing and distribution practices.
• Direct pharmacy inventory management, including medication procurement, storage, distribution, inventory control, and shrink reduction strategies to ensure medication availability while minimizing waste.
• Conduct audits, operational assessments, and risk evaluations to identify improvement opportunities, ensure compliance, and implement corrective actions when needed.
• Lead the execution of strategic initiatives, automation projects, new business opportunities, and enterprise programs while ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
• Build and maintain strong cross-functional partnerships across Operations, Clinical Services, Quality, Supply Chain, Technology, Human Resources, and other key business partners.
• Prepare and deliver executive-level reports, presentations, and business reviews that highlight operational performance, key trends, risks, and opportunities.
• Interview, hire, coach, and develop leaders and colleagues while fostering a culture of accountability, engagement, inclusion, innovation, and continuous improvement.
• Oversee training and development programs to ensure all colleagues remain qualified, knowledgeable, and compliant with applicable regulations, procedures, and role requirements.
• Champion employee engagement and leadership development through routine supervisor and manager cadences, focus groups, site tours, talent reviews, and succession planning activities.
• Serve as the primary site leader for executive visits, stakeholder engagement, operational reviews, and organizational development initiatives.

Required Qualifications

• Active Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification in good standing.
• 7+ years of experience in pharmacy operations, healthcare operations, supply chain, fulfillment, manufacturing, or a related operational environment.
• 2+ years of leadership, program management, or project management experience with demonstrated success leading cross-functional initiatives and influencing stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills with the ability to influence senior leaders, field leadership, and support teams.
• Demonstrated business acumen with the ability to leverage data, analytics, and operational insights to drive decision-making and business results.
• Advanced problem-solving and decision-making skills, including the ability to identify root causes, assess risks, and implement effective solutions.
• Proven ability to lead through change by demonstrating agility, adaptability, and a commitment to developing self and others.
• Strong execution and delivery skills, including planning, prioritization, implementation, and follow-through of operational and strategic initiatives.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, performance-driven environment while maintaining a focus on operational excellence and customer outcomes.
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience managing site budgets, controlling operating expenses, and achieving financial performance targets.
• Proven ability to analyze operational performance metrics and partner with leadership to develop and execute corrective action plans.
• Demonstrated success building effective cross-functional partnerships with teams such as Automation, Materials Management, Human Resources, Finance, Information Technology, and Quality.
• Experience leading the operational onboarding, implementation, and execution of new projects, initiatives, or business processes.
• Experience coordinating site tours, audits, and readiness activities for internal and external stakeholders.
• Experience facilitating employee focus groups and translating feedback into operational improvements and engagement initiatives.
• Demonstrated success leading and developing frontline leaders through coaching, mentoring, and engagement activities.
• Strong presentation skills, including experience preparing and delivering business reviews, reports, and recommendations to senior leadership.
• Experience identifying operational risks, trends, and opportunities and driving continuous improvement through data-driven decision making.
• Experience providing leadership continuity and operational oversight in the absence of senior site leadership.

Bachelor's Degree, Master's Degree preferred

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$82,940.00 - $182,549.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
