Translational Systems Toxicology Intern

Janssen Research & Development seeks a summer intern to develop and maintain automated workflows for a genomics-pharmacology database supporting preclinical safety assessment. The role involves building data pipelines, managing database updates, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to advance drug development.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain automated database update workflows with scheduling, monitoring, and alerting capabilities
- Support and improve data integration pipelines to ingest and harmonize genomics, pharmacology, toxicology, and assay datasets
- Build reproducible analysis scripts and dashboards for exploratory analysis and reporting
- Document data models, pipelines, standard operating procedures, and work instructions
- Collaborate with safety scientists, bioinformaticians, and data engineers to refine requirements and prioritize work
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in Master's or PhD in Data Science, Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, Computational Biology, or related quantitative field
- Strong programming skills in Python or R with experience writing reproducible code
- SQL and relational database knowledge
- Experience with workflow orchestration tools such as Airflow or Prefect
- Familiarity with cloud platforms and containerization technologies like Docker
- Working knowledge of genomics, toxicology, and biological concepts
- Permanent U.S. work authorization; no visa sponsorship required
Compensation: $23.50/hr to $52.50/hr
