Police Officer – Lynchburg, VA Are you passionate about national security and public safety? BWXT is looking for dedicated, skilled Police Officers to join our team at our Lynchburg, VA location. As a key part of our team, you will play a vital role in protecting our state‑of‑the‑art facility, which supports critical work for the U.S. National Defense. Key Responsibilities Maintain the certification of a certified police officer through the Department of Criminal Justice Services. Meet compliance standards by following regulatory requirements established by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and the Department of Energy (DOE). Ensure access control of personnel, materials, and packages entering or leaving restricted areas. Protect classified material and sensitive assets critical to national security. Remain vigilant and prepared to respond to security threats and emergencies. Take on additional duties as assigned to contribute to the overall security efforts. What You Need to Succeed High School Diploma or equivalent. Preferably a Virginia DCJS Certified Law Enforcement Officer. Must be at least 21 years old. Valid driver’s license. Ability to complete physical agility tests, physical exams, psychological evaluations, and drug screenings. Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) “Q” clearance. Benefits and Compensation Base salary range: $43,000 – $63,000 per year. The base salary offered is based on local job market factors and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job‑related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Total compensation may also include an annual cash incentive and a full range of medical, retirement, and other benefits. Further details will be provided to the selected candidate upon offer. If hired, the selected candidate will be employed “at‑will,” unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement. The Company reserves the right to modify base salary and discretionary payments at any time for reasons related to individual performance, company or team performance, and market factors. Legal and Safety Requirements As a federal government contractor, BWXT complies with all federal, state, and local laws regarding health and safety protocols. All new hires will be required to adhere to applicable safety requirements. Candidates must pass a federal background investigation, meet eligibility for classified information access, be U.S. citizens (no dual citizenship), and obtain and maintain a DOE security clearance. This involves an extensive criminal and financial background investigation, drug test, and prior employment reference verifications.
