As a Software Engineer III at JPMorganChase within the Consumer & Community Banking - Trust & Security Identity team, you serve as a seasoned member of an agile team to design and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. You are responsible for carrying out critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm’s business objectives.Job ResponsibilitiesLeverages enterprise-authorized AI coding assist tools within the work environment to improve code quality, delivery speed, and productivity across complex deliverables (e.g., code generation/refactoring, unit test creation, documentation), while validating outputs through peer review, automated testing, and secure coding standards; contributes learnings and reusable patterns to improve broader team effectiveness. Applies knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve the value realized by automation.Lead the decomposition of existing bespoke Java/Spring Boot Identity services into discrete, platform-consumable components with stable API contractsApply legacy modernization patterns (strangler fig, anti-corruption layer) to migrate services incrementally without disrupting in-flight productsDefine and enforce API contracts for all services being migrated or retired — ensuring consuming teams are not broken during transitionBuild and maintain the developer portal enabling line of business and product teams to discover, onboard to, and monitor platform servicesContribute to observability tooling — logging, tracing, and alerting across the platform to provide unified operational visibilityPartner with the platform Integration Engineer to ensure migrated services conform to platform integration adapter patternsImprove application stability by identifying migration risks early and building automated validation into the migration pipelineDevelop secure, high-quality production code and provide thoughtful code reviews to raise engineering standardsPartner with product and technology stakeholders to sequence migration priorities against business impactRequired qualifications, capabilities, and skillsFormal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 3+ years applied experienceHands-on experience using enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools within the work environment (e.g., for coding, test creation, troubleshooting, or documentation) with demonstrated ability to critically evaluate, validate, and refine AI-generated outputs for correctness, performance, and security. Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity considerations, secure handling of inputs/outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations; ability to guide peers on safe and effective usage within team practices.Experience decomposing bespoke or monolithic services into platform-consumable components with well-defined API contractsExperience establishing and versioning stable API contracts for services being decommissioned or migrated Experience with Java, Spring-based technologies, and event-driven microservices in a cloud environmentExperience with distributed systems and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure)Experience with microservices and RESTful APIs, relational and NoSQL databases, and data modelingHands-on experience with data streaming and messaging frameworks (Kafka or equivalent)Experience containerizing and running services using Docker and Kubernetes (including Helm)Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing practicesPreferred QualificationsExperience in financial services technology — onboarding, KYC, or identity domains preferredCloud certification and demonstrated cloud-native engineering experienceExperience building or contributing to internal developer experience tooling — portals, sandboxes, API documentationExperience with OpenAPI/Swagger specification-first API designExperience translating performance, reliability, and scalability requirements into platform-grade service designKnowledge of service mesh patterns and inter-service observabilityChase is a leading financial services firm, helping nearly half of America’s households and small businesses achieve their financial goals through a broad range of financial products.
