Job Description Cardiac Sonographer, Varying Shift, Echo Lab UC Health is hiring a PRN Cardiac Sonographer for the echo lab for a varying shift at University of Cincinnati Medical Center. This role requires delivering high‑quality care to patients, performing echocardiographic diagnostic procedures and utilizing various equipment to assess cardiac function, anatomy, and physiology. About UC Medical Center As part of the Clifton Campus of UC Health, Greater Cincinnati's academic health system, University of Cincinnati Medical Center has served Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky for nearly 200 years. Our clinicians use advanced technology to provide specialty and subspecialty care. The center houses Greater Cincinnati's only Level I adult trauma center. Unit Details Echo Lab offers weekends and holidays off. Cardiac Sonographers gain vast clinical experience as part of a level 1 trauma center. This is a family‑oriented and collaborative work environment. Responsibilities Engage in population‑appropriate communication, provide clear patient instructions, and involve families in assessment and care. Identify physical or psychological limitations and intervene appropriately. Perform diverse echocardiographic studies (2D, adult congenital, 3D, AFI, dyssynchrony, dobutamine, bicycle/treadmill stress, transesophageal, 3D transesophageal). Conduct high‑quality studies following protocols, adjust technique as needed. Participate in research studies and maintain patient confidentiality. Use Epic scheduling and patient‑data charting software, clarify orders, report critical results. Comply with all department policies, safety, infection control, and disaster plans. Serve as a quality patient‑care role model and provide training to technologists, fellows, and staff physicians. Qualifications Completion of a two‑year allied health degree and a 12‑month CAAHEP‑approved school of ultrasound technology, cardiovascular technology, or equivalent education. Required to obtain ARDMS or CCI certification in cardiac ultrasound (RDCS or RCS) within twelve months of employment. Meet required clinical hours for registry eligibility. Demonstrate competency in adult, geriatric, and adolescent echocardiography, including cognitive, technical, interpersonal, and communication skills. Pay Expected starting salary range: $31.63/hr – $39.11/hr, depending on experience and qualifications.
