You'd also be joining a company that actually promotes from within: the CEO started as an assistant controller, the head of IT started at the help desk, and the chief of staff started as an admin.

The comp is $130K to $160K base plus 1% commission on attributed new business. You'll need to be willing to obtain the California Life & Health Insurance License (about 10 hours of study, but you can start without it).

The process:

One month part-time at ~10-20 hours per week, then transition to full-time if it's a fit on both sides.

GROWTH MARKETER, UNITEDAG

Help one of California's most established healthcare trusts reach more agricultural employers. Coached weekly by a growth expert who's trained 50+ YC founders. $130K-$170K base plus 1% commission on attributed new business.

Location: California-based (no office requirement). Must be willing to travel across CA as needed.

Process: One month part-time at ~10-20 hours per week, then transition to full-time if the role feels like a mutual good fit. 

Timeline: 3-4 weeks from application to part-time trial. ~8 weeks total to full-time offer.

WHO YOU ARE

You don't need a sales or growth background.

But it’s important that you care about making healthcare more empathetic and improving access to care.

You have to be comfortable doing growth or sales. You have to be able to do cold outreach and pick up the phone to talk to people. Hearing "no" makes you curious, not defeated.

You operate with high agency. You check in without being asked. You move fast. When a deal stalls, your instinct is to try something new rather than wait. You'd rather get something live and ugly than wait two weeks for it to be perfect.

You write clearly. You can explain a complex thing to a busy person in three sentences.

You're scrappy with data and AI tools. Excel, Sheets, basic SQL or spreadsheet wrangling, pulling lists, cross-referencing CSVs don't scare you. When you hit a wall, you open Claude, Clay, Apollo, or Canva and try, instead of waiting for someone else to solve it.

WHAT YOU'LL ACTUALLY DO

- Find ag employers who don't know us yet, through cold outreach, industry events, broker relationships, referrals, and trigger-based marketing playbooks we'll teach you

- Sit with internal data. Work with our CRM, eligibility data, and COBRA notices to spot trigger events (key personnel departures, group changes) that signal an outreach moment

- Write a lot: old outreach copy, proposals, broker enablement materials, follow-ups, etc.

- Run experiments weekly. Actually test what works, report honestly on bottom-funnel metrics (qualified meetings, deals closed, premium written), not vanity metrics

- Establish and strengthen broker relationships through events, conversations, and collaborations

- Get coached. Weekly with Pranav, regular with Kirti, ongoing in the work itself

Since 1980, UnitedAg has built quality, affordable health benefits for the people who put food on America's tables. We're member-owned, which means the trust exists to serve our members, not shareholders. We're the largest agricultural health plan trust in the country, with 55,000+ members across California and Arizona.

We're also a female-led organization. Almost half our executive team and board are women. Our CEO, Kirti Mutatkar, is a first-generation female immigrant who started at UnitedAg as an assistant controller. We have an internal community called WomenAg that supports women leaders across the agricultural industry.

We need someone to help us reach more ag employers who'd benefit from a health plan built specifically for them. There are a lot of them, and most don't know we exist yet.

- It's not account management. We have a team for that.

- It's not running open enrollment meetings or member education events. That's member services.

- It's not a coordinator role. You're a growth marketer, with weekly coaching to help you grow into the work.

You don't need to have sold insurance or know the industry terminology. We'll teach you the domain. We can't teach you to care.

HOW THE HIRING PROCESS WORKS

Total timeline: 3-4 weeks from application to part-time trial. ~8 weeks total to full-time offer if it's a fit on both sides.

1. Submit your Growth Operator Application

2. Interview with Pranav (Got Users). One hour.

3. Panel interview with UnitedAg leadership. One hour.

4. Interview with Kirti Mutatkar, CEO. One hour.

5. One-month part-time trial (see below).

6. Full-time offer if it's a fit on both sides.

What the part-time trial looks like:

- ~10-20 hours per week for one month

- Paid at 50% of the agreed-upon base salary for the month (commission doesn't apply during the trial)

- Success criteria: ship 1-2 real experiments. Examples: a cold outreach campaign to a defined segment, a landing page test, a broker outreach sequence, a prospect list built from trigger data. You and Pranav will agree on which experiments at the start of the month.

- Weekly check-in with Pranav and Kirti

- At the end of the month, both sides decide whether to move to full-time
