Number of Positions: Multiple Work Location: San Bernardino County Telework: In Office Job Type: Permanent, Full Time Department: Caltrans Job Description and Duties Under the direction of a Caltrans Maintenance Supervisor, Leadworker or other qualified crew member, the Caltrans Equipment Operator II operates a variety of maintenance, construction and landscape equipment requiring a Class “A” Commercial Driver License with Tank Vehicle (N) Endorsement, and a current medical certificate, while performing duties associated with maintaining the State highway system and all its facilities. The employee may be required to work an alternate work shift that includes weekends, work overtime including nights, weekends, and holidays, work temporary and/or intermittent varied work shifts, and respond to emergency calls. The position may also be loaned to other cost centers and is subject to seasonal shift changes. This position is represented under collective bargaining. Eligibility for Hire Eligibility is determined by score on the CALTRANS EQUIPMENT OPERATOR II exam. Candidates must be on the State examination list and hold the required credentials. Special Requirements Drug screening must be passed prior to hiring. Background investigation must be cleared prior to hiring. Must possess a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License with Tank (N) endorsement and a current medical certificate. Possession of a valid driver’s license is required when operating a State‑owned or leased vehicle.
