Job Title: Advanced Practice Provider Location: RWJ-Somerset Medical Center, 110 Rehill Avenue, Somerville, NJ 08876 Department: Critical Care APPs RWJSH Required Job Number: 0000212873 Employment Type: Per Diem / Hourly Shift: Night Pay Range: $57.69 - $91.34 per hour (anticipated hourly wage for this position in New Jersey; compensation offers vary by education, skills, and experience) Job Summary The House Coverage APP is an independent health‑care provider who coordinates emergent inpatient care through collaboration with the attending physician, PA or APN, and follows the objectives, policies, and procedures of the practice and the New Jersey State Board of Medical Examiners. The APP provides care in accordance with the Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner Advisory Committee directives. As Lead APP on the team, additional responsibilities include creating the monthly team schedule, assisting in filling schedule gaps, helping with payroll, providing team educational opportunities, and being an active member of the APP Practice Council as well as various hospital committees. Essential Functions Demonstrates an ability to organize and achieve quality performance in routine tasks. Effectively coordinates various aspects of patient care. Performs appropriate assessments and treatment for patients. Interprets laboratory and diagnostic testing results. Performs basic bedside procedures such as central line removal, feeding tube insertion, and rhinorrhea device insertion. Appropriately directs patient care during rapid responses, code stroke, code MI, and code sepsis events. Demonstrates strong organizational skills, effective communication, and solid time management. Conducts duties independently while coordinating care with bedside nurses, attending physicians, and consulting providers. Interacts compassionately with patients across all areas of care. Identifies areas for improvement in policies or patient care, initiates change, and educates all involved parties. Communicates regularly with nursing staff regarding patient care issues. Thoroughly explains procedures to patients before testing. Provides appropriate patient teaching as necessary. Performs necessary medical clearances for inpatient psychiatric patients. Job Requirements Acute care certification preferred. FCCS certification preferred. 1‑2 years of acute care hospital experience preferred. Current APN or PA certification. Current NJ state license (CDS and DEA). Current BLS and ACLS required.
