Research Senior Technician

The Research Senior Technician (RST) will work on nanopore-based single-molecule sensor development projects. The RST would also assist with the setup, maintenance, and operation of the Nanoscale Sensing and Transport laboratory in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry (located in the McPherson Building) under the supervision of Dr. Nuwan Bandara. The RST will also be responsible for (i) managing and maintaining laboratory equipment, (ii) maintaining stock reagents and solutions, ordering supplies and equipment, (iii) consolidating the analysis of research results, evaluating the validity of data obtained from experimental procedures, (iv) summarizing data for inclusion in grant proposals, and manuscripts, (v) preparation of research progress reports, (vi) assisting and supporting other laboratory members and students and, (vii) performing administrative tasks including coordinating lab safety inspections. RST would also perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Biological Science, Chemistry, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Relevant experience requirements:
  • 4 years of relevant experience with a high school diploma or GED.
  • 2 years of relevant experience with an associate degree.
  • No prior experience required with a bachelor's degree.
• Ability to translate, adapt, and apply academic or practical knowledge in a research setting.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a research team.

Desired Qualification

• 1-3 years of experience in materials chemistry.
• 1-3 years of experience in nanopore sensing.
• 1-3 years of experience in drug delivery.
• 1-3 years of experience in nanoparticle synthesis.
• 1-3 years of experience in data analysis.
• Proficiency in MATLAB.
• Experience with CAD design.
• Experience in nanofabrication.

Additional Information:

The pay range for this job profile is $19.28 to $25.19. The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, unit's available budget, and the candidate's qualifications.
