The Smyrna School District has ongoing substitute nurse opportunities. Individuals who are interested in working on an on-call, as needed basis for field trips or long-term absence coverage are encouraged to apply.

• Establish and maintain collaborative working relationships.
• Follow principles and processes for providing health care services for school community.
• Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of healthcare factors in situations that may arise.
• Communicate effectively with students and the school community.
• Keep record of students seen and how they were treated.
• Ensure compliance with national and local health laws, policies, and procedures.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work well as part of a team.
• Ability to maintain absolute confidentiality of work-related issues and records.
• Ability to work independently and exercise initiative.

Required Qualifications

• Current registered nurse license recognized by the Delaware Board of Nursing
• Current CPR/AED Certification
• Must attend mandatory substitution orientation session.

Conditions of Hire

• A criminal background check, inclusive of fingerprinting and a Child Protection Registry check, is required as a condition of employment.
• Direct deposit of pay is a condition of employment.
